The anime tells stories based on Hamabe and Fukuhara's real-life experiences of people helping each other. The anime centers on two characters based on the pair, named Minami and Haruka. In the first episode, Minami reflects on how she somehow "helped" her high school teacher, while Haruka looks back on her early child actor days when she was helped by a staff member. The two are recruited by ghostly visions who tell them they must look for how to help each other, as they have lost the ability to do so in the future.

Hamabe is known for such roles as Menma in the 2015 live-action anohana special, Sakura Yamauchi in the live-action Let Me Eat Your Pancreas film, Saki Miyanaga in the live-action Saki series, Yumeko Jabami in the 2018 Japanese live-action Kakegurui series, and Noriko Oishi in Godzilla Minus One.

Fukuhara is known for such roles as Himari Arisugawa/Cure Custard in Kirakira Precure a la Mode, Yui Nishida in After the Rain, Satomi Amano in Sing a Bit of Harmony, Tsubame Koyasu in Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2 as well as the live-action Kaguya-sama Final: Love Is War film, and Julie Arukibi in the 2019 Japanese live-action Kakegurui film.
