The booth for anime production company Madhouse at the 2007 Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) included a few promotions for new titles.
An anime based on the popular CAPCOM video game Devil May Cry is in the works. The anime is slated to debut on Japanese Cable/Satellite network WOWOW on June 14th. The series is being directed by Shin Itagaki, who directed the Black Cat anime series and has worked on subject drawings or numerous TV and theatrical anime, including Princess Mononoke and Dead Leaves.
Another project that is earning Madhouse a lot of attention is their development of a full-length anime based on the American science-fiction/action series Highlander. The anime is being directed by Ninja Scroll director Yoshiaki Kawajiri and is planned to appear in theaters in Japan later this year.
In a much different vein, Madhouse is also working with popular toy company and Hello Kitty merchandiser Sanrio to create a movie based on Sanrio character "Cinnamoroll." The film, Cinnamon the Movie, is scheduled to debut in theaters this winter along with a short film called Mouse Story: The Adventures of George and Gerald. The "Cinnamoroll" movie will be directed by Kisaburo Sugii, who also directed Arashi no Yoru ni (On A Stormy Night) and Lament of the Lamb.
