Main writer of Namco RPG plots manga spinoff from anime adaptation

The May issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Asuka magazine announced on March 24 that a new manga adaptation of Namco's Tales of the Abyss role-playing game will launch in the next issue on April 24. A relatively new artist named Ayumi Kanou will create the Tales of the Abyss: Tsuioku no Jade (Tale of the Abyss: Jade in My Memories) manga with Takumi Miyajima, the main writer of this game and others in the "Tales of" franchise. (This Ayumi Kanou is a different person from the Ayumi Kano who draws the Sea View and Passionate Theory boys-love manga.)

As a side story of Sunrise's recently ended anime version, the manga will depict the background history of the Jade Curtiss character. Kousuke Fujishima (Ah! My Goddess, You're Under Arrest, Sakura Wars) created the original character designs. Another artist named Rei draws the main Tales of the Abyss manga in ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Maoh magazine, while writer Rin Nijō and artist Hana Saitō create another manga called Tales of the Abyss: Senketsu no Ash in Kadokawa Shoten's Tales of Magazine.
