Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: The Yahoo! Japan auctions of two Evangelion guitars made by Fender have ended. Fender senior master builder Yuriy Shishkov built both guitars as one-of-a-kind items featuring art of the character Rei Ayanami and "Lance of Longinus inlays." The Rei Stratocenter guitar was sold for 9,082,000 yen (about US$102,200), and the Rei Telecaster guitar was sold for 7,762,000 yen (US$87,350). The auctions began on December 1 and the starting bid for both guitars was 500,000 yen (US$5,600).
A 2.2-meter (7.2-feet) steel replica of the Spear of Longinus from the Evangelion anime franchise was put on Yahoo! Japan Auctions in 2007. However, its unverified closing bid of 13,727,000 yen (about US$121,100) was not included in the top 10 charity auctions of that year. A film strip bundled with the Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone film remake was auctioned for 152,000 yen (about US$1,460) last year. An outdoors poster was also sold for charity for 509,000 yen (US$5,730) this year.
