Clione no Akari TV Anime's Promo Video Highlights Minori

Sayuri Matsumura plays character in July anime

The official website for the television anime of Natural-Rain's illustrated online novel Clione no Akari (Clione's Light) began streaming a promotional video for the series on Friday. The video highlights the character Minori Amamiya.

Naoya Ishikawa's one-man animation studio Ishikawa Pro (Kuttsukiboshi, Magical Chocolate) is directing the anime at drop. MOLICE, Tsukasa, and Takeshi Onaka are handling the scenario alongside original author Natural-Rain. Natural-Rain also designed the characters. Kazuhiko Izu is directing the sound. Former SKE48 idol group member aki is performing the opening theme song "Clione no Akari," and is also singing the ending theme song "Sora o Tobu Kaze." Riko Sasaki is performing the insert song "Hyakunichi no Hana."

The anime will premiere in July on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, and BS Fuji.

The story centers around an illness-stricken, constantly bullied orphan girl named Minori. After one rainy day, she doesn't turn up at school, having been admitted into a hospital in a distant town. Two months pass, and the girl's two school friends, Takashi and Kyōko, receive a mysterious email with no sender listed. The email reveals a summer festival taking place at a nearby town ....

Natural-Rain started posting the original story online in 2004, and East Press published it in print in 2012. The app version ranked #9 among paid apps on the Apple Store.
