Rekishi Performs New Ending Theme for GeGeGe no Kitaro Anime

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
New theme debuts in show on July 1

The official website for the new GeGeGe no Kitarō anime revealed on Saturday that Rekishi, musician Takafumi Ikeda's "solo unit," will perform the new ending theme song "Get A Note" (pronounced "Geta no Oto," which translates to "The Sound of Geta Footwear") for the show. The new theme song will debut in the show on July 1. The song will be Rekishi's first anime tie-in song, and it will be a rock song featuring the sound of geta in the background (geta are the type of footwear the titular Kitarō wears in the show).

Maneki-kecak is performing the current ending theme song "Kagami no Naka kara."

The anime premiered on April 1 and replaced Dragon Ball Super in the same timeslot. The anime will run for 50+ episodes. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs.

Kouji Ogawa is serving as series director while Hiroshi Ohnogi (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) is handling series composition. Sorato Shimizu is the character designer and chief animation director. Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail) and -yaiba- (Naruto Shippūden) are composing the music. Fuji TV, Yomiuri Advertising, and Toei Animation are producing.

Kiyoshi Hikawa is performing the anime's current classic opening theme song "Gegege no Kitarō."
