Sentai Filmworks Licenses Kandagawa Jet Girls Anime

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Series streams this fall, gets home video release

Sentai Filmworks announced on Tuesday that it has licensed the television anime of the Kandagawa Jet Girls multimedia project. The license covers North America, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, the Netherlands, Scandinavia and Nordic countries, Spain, Portugal and Central and South America. The company will stream the anime this fall and release it on home video in the future.

Sentai Filmworks describes the anime's story:

“Jet-Racing” has become a mega-popular extreme sport across the world, and with good reason! The “Jetter” pilots a high velocity watercraft and is paired with a “Shooter” who blasts rival teams with a hydro gun. It all adds up to explosive, wet-and-wild action as they race to the finish and compete to earn supremacy. Among those competing is Rin Namiki, and racing is in her blood. Rin aspires to become a legendary Jetter just like her mother, and after meeting the cool and gorgeous Shooter Misa Aoi, it looks like Rin's dreams are finally in reach with a partner who shares her passion! Every race brings them tighter together as a team and closer than ever to their dream of becoming the best Jet Racers on the water.

The anime will debut in Japan on AT-X on October 8 at 11:30 p.m. The anime will premiere later that night on Tokyo MX and MBS and will stream on d Anime Store, before airing on BS11 on October 9.

Hiraku Kaneko (Tsuredure Children, The Qwaser of Stigmata) is directing the series at TNK (High School DxD, Doreiku The Animation). Go Zappa (Nekopara, Beatless) is in charge of series composition. Tsutomu Miyazawa (Samurai Girls, Soul Buster) is designing the characters based on original designs by Hanaharu Naruko (Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, A.I.C.O. -Incarnation-).

Cast members Yū Sasahara and Riko Kohara will perform the opening theme song "Bullet Mermaid." Azusa Tadokoro will perform the anime's ending theme song "RIVALS."

Kadokawa, Marvelous, and EGG FIRM announced the multimedia project on July 26. Marvelous and Honey∞Parade Games are developing a PlayStation 4 game for the project.

Senran Kagura producer Kenichirō Takaki is working on the game for the project. Takaki stated in March that development on the project began about a year and a half prior. He revealed Naruko as character designer and Kaneko as director.
