Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters Toys Get 3rd 3D CG Anime on October 2

Natsumi Haruse, Megu Umezawa, others reprise roles


Epoch announced on Tuesday that its Sylvanian Families toy line will get a new, full 3D CG anime titled Sylvanian Families Freya no Wonder Days (Sylvanian Families: Freya's Wonder Days), which will premiere on Tokyo MX on October 2. The anime will have 12 episodes.

The returning cast from the previous anime are:

Masaaki Kawahara returns from the previous anime to direct the new anime at LandQ studios. Hirotoshi Kobayashi is also back from Sylvanian Families: The Movie to oversee the scripts, which Kobayashi will pen the scripts alongside returning writers Momoka Toyoda, and new writer Chisato Matsuda. Asaka Narita is the CG director. Yuichi "masa" Nonaka returns as the musical composer. Takumi Kodama is directing the sound again. HEAD OFF is once again in charge of sound production.

The Sylvanian Families Freya no Piece of Secret anime premiered in November 2024.

Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment animated the franchise's 2017 anime series, which received a second and third season in 2018 and 2019.

A new anime series for the franchise premiered in October 2022. The franchise's first anime film titled Gekijōban Sylvanian Families: Freya Kara no Okurimono (Sylvanian Families: The Movie: A Gift From Freya) opened in Japan in November 2023.

Japanese company Epoch created the original toy line in 1985. The franchise inspired a 1987 American-animated series, as well as 1998 British stop-motion animated series. The franchise also inspired a three-episode Japanese CG anime video series in 2007. In the United States, the franchise is also known as Calico Critters.
