Otakon 2013
Sentai Filmworks

by Bamboo Dong, Aug 9th 2013

Despite being the first industry panel of the convention, with the registration line still snaking around the convention center, the Sentai Filmworks panel was well-attended. Heading the panel was PR representative David Williams and marketing director Christian Lopez. The two started off the morning talking about their lineup of summer simulcast titles that were currently streaming: KINMOZA, Sunday Without God, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, Fantasista Doll, Stella Women's Academy, High School Division Class C3, Dog & Scissors, Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen, and WATAMOTE. All of the titles are currently available on Crunchyroll.

The rest of the panel was devoted to listing their upcoming catalogue titles, followed by a short Q&A. For upcoming releases, August will see Makoto Shinkai's new film, The Garden of Words, a 46-minute short about an unlikely friendship between a high school boy who wants to be a shoemaker and a young professional woman who's burned out from her job. Also hitting shelves this month is Shining Hearts, tsuritama, and Medaka Box, all of which will be available for purchase at the Sentai booth at Otakon.

September releases include AKB0048, This Boy Caught a Merman, the Golgo 13 complete collection, and Queen's Blade: Rebellion.

The October catalogue includes the third season of Hakuōki, the second collection from Phi-Brain - Puzzle of God season two, Campione!, the Di Gi Charat TV show, and Kokoro Connect. Sentai will also be releasing a rescue title, Godannar, which was previously released by ADV Films. Also to be released is the complete Gatchaman series, which will include the original OVAs. It will include the ADV dub.

November will see the release of Hiiro no Kakera season two, NAKAIMO - My Little Sister Is Among Them!, Little Busters!, La storia della Arcana Famiglia, the Highschool of the Dead: Drifters of the Dead OAV, and two rescues: Yumeria and Divergence Eve, also previously released by ADV Films.

As for December, the company will be releasing the Di Gi Charat OVA specials, the Kokoro Connect OVAs, BTOOOM!, Humanity Has Declined, Say, "I Love You"., So, I Can't Play H!, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou collection 1, and Girls und Panzer. The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, So, I Can't Play H!, and Humanity Has Declined will be subtitled-only releases, but will be released on both DVD and BD. The Di Gi Charat OVAs will be subtitled-only also, but will only be available on DVD. As for Girls und Panzer, Sentai also has the OVA, but it will be released separately from the TV series. However, the character intro episodes (episodes 5.5 and 10.5) will be included with the TV release, but will be subtitled-only. The scene from episode eight that was missing from the simulcast will be restored in this release, but due to licensing issues, the song has been changed.

There were no new licensing announcements.
