HexaneKane's Anime

This category is dedicated to anime that I have enjoyed enough to have a second helping. Many of these second (and sometimes more) viewings occurred while sharing these treasures with others that appreciate this amazing art. These shows are also great for introducing anime to those who have yet to discover its appeal, and as a way to break down many preconceived notions/stereotypes of this genera.

Not all of these will be rated a Masterpiece as some may not reach quite that level, but that does not mean that they don't belong in this list, as with people, often those with some flaws are the most interesting.

*This is still a work in progress.

Akira (movie) Masterpiece Akira is not for everyone. Some scenes are quite intense and graphic, and the concepts are very cerebral. However, this anime was simply amazing for its time (1988). The soundtrack was created using techniques that would be considered groundbreaking. The animation was of a caliber that exceeds even that of some modern projects. This anime may not be the best work in which to introduce someone to the genera, but every anime fan must watch it at some time.
Clannad (TV) Masterpiece
Clannad After Story (TV) Masterpiece
Toradora! (TV) Masterpiece
Your Lie in April (TV) Excellent This one was a masterpiece in almost every way. There was just a bit too much slapstick humor that felt harshly juxtaposed to the serious nature of this anime. If that had been toned down this would have easily been a masterpiece.
