Queen's Blade sounds smashing.
I'll be sure to lurk around elsewhere to find out how certain niche fan circles are receiving this.

It's quite possible to have a good story with fanservice. And even if you look at shows which are thoroughly ecchi, some have better stories than others. For instance, Sekirei and Ikkitousen are both series which involve fighting and scantily clad women. However, I'd say that Sekirei has a much better story than Ikkitousen, and I think that it's far better for it.
There are plenty of anime out there with far better stories than either of them, and there is definitely a tendency for the level of the story of an anime to decrease the more fanservice is in it, but you can still have a decent story with an excess of fanservice. However, from the sounds of it, all that Queen's Blade has is fanservice.
I knew just enough about Queen's Blade before reading Zac and Carlos' reviews that I was looking out for it, but given what's being said about it here, it's not worth touching at all. A fanservice-laden anime has got to have at least a semi-decent plot or it might as well have been hentai.

Don't act like you don't know how this is going to go over with niche fan circles. They'll love it. I am on the other hand disgusted.
I'll check out K-On since I liked Lucky Star but my hopes for it aren't as high.

Oh. I must add that I love how Zac actually rated the series. It's so much more interesting than simply giving it a zero...

So Queen's Blade sounds like Basilisk only all girls, almost hentai, and a 'so cheesy and bad you either want to laugh hysterically or stab your eyes out' kind of feel? Count me in! Its nice to have a show like that now and then, they don't all have to be epic.

You really shouldn't be posting this all over the fourms! For example there are some people who belive in different after lifes, and there are some people who just don't care? like you? I really do not believe its your business to judge other people on there tastes, I could give you a long lecture on what you said was wrong and point out every single detail but I'm not going to, because your probably just going to write tl;dr with your i don't care attitude...
grow up, please.
Oh, btw I reported your post, enjoy your ban!
sailorsean, I suggest you do the same.[/quote]
Thank You! I just did!

I'll be honest. When I saw Zac's name on the preview list, I thought I should just skip it, since I don't like his cynical view of anime and didn't care much for his reviews the last time. However, when I saw his review on Queen's Blade, I knew why he couldn't resist to participate, and I'm glad I read it. The rating is brilliant! I am amazed that this show is actually on the air.

Of the four shows reviewed, none seem to have scored more than 2.5 out of 5 thusfar. The more high-profile titles have yet to be broadcast though, so i suppose the next batch of series will fare somewhat better.
Personally, i really liked the first episode of K-ON and would rate it 4 out of 5 , though I can see why some wouldn't like it. The characters might be a bit too cutesy and stereotypical for their own good and there's not a lot going on yet storywise. The latter is expected though as this only the introductory episode. I fully expect it to get more interesting after a couple of episodes. Nothing particularly original, mind you, but i'd rather watch an unoriginal show executed very well than an original show that sort of falls apart at the seams. K-ON's animation and soundtrack are top notch. Both the OP and ED are quite good IMO and there's quite a bit of detailed animation in the characters' movements.
The only other new spring season episode i've watched is Queen's Blade, which is just hilariously awful. Good for a laugh at least, but i won't be watching any more of it.

Poor Zac. You knew what was coming... why even bother? Queen's Blade could have likely been summed up with an image and one sentence. These days I actually feel kind of bad for you. So much junk, and it always seems like you get the pleasure of reviewing it and/or commentating.
K-on... The anime industry has always had a bit of a "me too" complex. A show gets super popular off a fresh idea, then you get a bunch of crappy copy cats. Not shocked we're still getting various school girl clone shows. Curious to see when the next big thing will happen... either a school girl show of value that is different enough to stand on it's own or something altogether original that isn't a clone of what we already have.

If I remember correctly, last time it took far longer to get below the ratings scale. Whatever.
Also, I am really excited about Queen's Blade, although I fear it might be so bad it's bad (after so bad it's hilarious).
I like K-on, although the lead pisses me off, but let's see where this is going.
Waiting for Basquash, FMA2 and Higashi no Eden.

You know, there's a very flawed method as to how the ANN people offer reviews for the new season. I don't think its fair to judge a series based on only one or two episodes. I mean, how many people did the first episode of Haruhi Suzumiya turn off from the series forever? And especially in the case of shows like K-On!, that's more a series that you have to watch a few eps of before you should give a reccomendation for.
As for Queen's Blade, and apologies for sounding sexist in advance, but we just need more older women, or girls that actually look like women in anime, so I will watch a few eps of this at least. The bottom line is, that the fights need to be entertaining, if the fight's in Queen's Blade are entertaining that's all I'll need.

It's a Good Thing then that they're judging the episode and not the series.

Well nothing good as of yet - but the season is still young.
I'm excited to see how Valkryia Chronicles and the new Fullmetal Alchemist turn out.

These aren't reviews, reviews are for DVD releases etc, see separate section for that.
These are impressions based entirely on the episodes viewed so far, they even go as far as to state this is the case in the intro text.
I'll be checking out K-ON as those are the kind of series that I guiltily really enjoy. Sometimes for all the wrong reasons. Kimikiss for example I started watching and enjoyed because of Kisaragi Gunma...
But.
Queens Blade really offends me. I'd imagine I'm the target demographic, what with being a Comiket attending (well, Futaket not Comiket) hentai fan. But...hentai, porn, etc, all belong in their own place and should be divorced from regular anime. If this is what they think I want to watch then...well I'll need to convince them somehow that I am not such a mindless drone who gets his jollies on the borderline mistreatment of women.

OT note.

You find it offensive to use a very mild insult derived from a Christian based society. I find it offensive that people get so up in arms and need to feel so superior that they feel they should dictate what others say, think and do.
