Just woke up to hear the news, not a very good feeling at all.
Rest In Piece Daisuke Sato-san. I hope Inazuma and Sato's family find a way to continue his works with Triange X and HOTD. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues who are still grieving at this time.

Well now, that was seriously shocking... I hope he was at least satisfied with the work he did, it wouldn't be fun that he left this world with too many regrets at such a young age. R.I.P. Sato Daisuke, you will be missed.
And for a moment there I thought it was Sato Shouji that had passed away, in a sense, it's a relief, since I love his art style, and being frank, all his Doujin are fun, ahaha... I do wonder if they somewhat planned the continuation of HotD, given the circumstances and the amount of time elapsed since the hiatus, there's a chance of that, but we might never know.

Darn, and I liked that manga. Hope the dude rests in peace regardless. I would hate for him to become a zombie down the line...

Dang that's sad. And there goes my small hope of HoTD resuming.

R.I.P I never knew the hiatus was because of his health.

Very sad to hear this. I haven't read the manga yet, but damn I loved the anime.

I suspected he had a serious illness, given how long HotD's hiatus has been, but I still hoped I was wrong, or that he'd recover someday. Saddest news in a while, and may he rest in peace.

Seeing how popular it is, HOTD could be taken up by another mangaka. In spite of that, let's just pray that Mr. Sato rests in peace.

Damn it, I was talking about how much I love HOTD just yesterday. I wish I could thank him personally for the enjoyment he brought fans, bless him.

I dunno. You have stuff like Cyborg 009 remaining a viable full blown franchise but that feels like an exceptional case.

I'd say the ball is in Shouji Sato's court, since he could very well take over the writing duties like artist Albert Uderzo did on Asterix after writer René Goscinny died, but it would be understandable if he weren't willing to continue the series without his creative partner. Also, he's still got Triage X to work on.
