Fanservice aside, the animation was absolutely atrocious; cheap looking, crummy designs and it flowed like a peanut butter fountain. If that's the FIRST episode, oh boy, I can just imagine the amount of money spent on the rest. Cash needed, STAT!

And yet, it still looks better than most hentai, which is why the argument of "Why not just watch hentai" doesn't work, among other problems relating to animated hentai relating to censorship and just the manner of their release. I wish high quality, even if dumb as bricks, outrageous fanservice anime could be more of a thing.

Yeah no one is watching HxH just for the story or character development there here purely for the fanservice and nothing else. Although I seriously doubt that this will effect sales that much since the broadcast version is edited and people buy the disks because they are uncensored. Wink

Like with Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid, the AT-X broadcast is completely uncensored. Then again, it's a premium, subscription-based channel, so most of the network broadcasting limitations don't apply to it.

... and the only reason I can think why crunchy still does not have said uncensored version to stream is because they will be labeled a porn channel. I mean, they could easily get some real hentai shows, either vintage or relatively recent and outside japan there is no legal requirement to censor them, they might just need users to input their birth date same as steam, but they must be afraid some parents might prohibit their teens from watching (as if they would so oblivious as to see those when their parents are near).

Like how DenpaSoft handles Sekai Project's adult games, or how Touchstone Pictures is (or was? There are negotiations and such) Walt Disney Studios' brand for more-than-PG movies, CrunchyRoll could start a new brand to handle that kind of content. But one of the biggest drawback to this proposition is that, if and when uncensored ecchi shows -- like To-Love Ru, the aforementioned Valkyrie Drive, or Freezing -- will appear on that platform, it will further solidify the misconception that "all this is just porn."

A real shame that these various circumstances had to happen.

It's amazing how far we've come in the past ten years. In fact, the most explicit show that was airing in summer 2006 was Air Gear, which dared to bare nipples in a few bathing scenes.

Yet when it comes to lolis, the opposite is true.

I'm thinking it's due to the tits and censorship guidelines of nowadays.

They are not guidelines, it is a LAW that affects Tokyo and the end result is the increased censorship we have seen recently. Said law does not affect Kyushu beyond said censorship.

Oh yeah, that's right it only is in Tokyo. Stupid thing is that other stations air this anime so I really don't see why this story is even a thing.
