funimations issue is that they want the streaming rights which CR prolly won't give away so easily.

They can have the streaming rights, they'll just have to share it with CR like they already do with a bunch of other shows. I'm sure they want exclusive right to the simulcasts, but they're just going to have to share it like Viz does Naruto and Bleach. As it is CR pays a premium to stream Fairy Tail, they can't even show it for free, there's no way they're going to willingly give up a license that they had to pull strings to secure.

I second that. I do not know what it is, but this show seems to get dumped upon for its animation. It is not bad. Most people are not that anal about things like that. It is like hearing an audiophile whine about the sound quality. All of this makes the title less marketable when industry people read the forums.

At the very least, I hope Crunchyroll picks up the second season. If Funi wants, all the better. After watching the show, I have been reading the manga at the library. It is very faithful to the book from what I read. If someone puts the series on DVD, I will be on board. I like this series better than Rave Master.

I have not seen the next arc. If it goes downhill, I will watch anyway. I know Rave Master had its bad parts too. I just hope it does not get as bad as Naruto filler.

What "bunch" of anime do CR and Funi share the streaming rights to? The only ones I see are separated by season and therefore not the same license. CR and Funi both stream Druaga for some reason. That does not look like a bunch of anime to me.

If its on Crunchyroll doesn't that generally mean Funimation passed on it?

No, Crunchyroll licenses titles for streaming only (usually) direct from the Japanese licensers and usually does so before the shows premiere in Japan. ...

One further point: Fairy Tale is on a more limited streaming license than most shows, with shows only available to anime members and only available for 30 days after the stream premieres. The first Strike Witches was on a similar streaming license, and it was picked up by Funimation.

As far as I can tell, the only shows that FUNi and CR both stream are Gonzo titles. Is there one I missed? As it is, pretty sure Fairy Tail is A1, not Gonzo.

But with Crunchyroll's streaming rights to Fairy Tale limited to 30 days after broadcast, there wouldn't be any overlap in any event. Just as there was no overlap between the Funimation streams of Strike Witches and the Crunchyroll simulcast, which was also a 30-day timecast.

sorry should of worded it better, i meant that funi would want the rights to sub and stream the latest episodes on there site and I'm pretty sure they would never share that with CR.

Also say what you want about the animation and fights, but you cannot deny this series has a GODLY musical score.

God yes, been saying that about the soundtrack since it started! Love it.

Instead of being a douche and complaining about the animation (It's not even that bad. Let's try comparing that to the animation at the beginning of Hitman Reborn -shiver-), I think I'll celebrate the fact that Fairy Tail is doing well enough to still be following the manga. (And glad enough that TokyoPop didn't get their hands on Mashima's work this time. Del Rey FTW.)
Now I'm really fired up for the Nirvana arc (Get it? Fired up? because Natsu... Never mind.)

I wish this was dubbed but it seems unlikely. If it was dubbed though, I get the strange feeling that FUNi wouldn't pick it up. I get the feeling Viz would (if it were to be dubbed) just because it seems like something they could do. Fairy Tail's anime doesn't have blood (hell, they went so far as to completely change the casino from the manga into a playroom looking thing...) and it has magic. They could probably profit off of it and sell it as a kids show.

Actually I don't think it's that unlikely at all the show is quite popular and getting more popular all the time as it's now getting popular enough to be getting more made. Yeah, I think like One Piece Funi is the front runner and if they get it's obviously getting dubbed like thankfully all their shows so I think we'll eventually see Fairy Tail dubbed which should be great fun with these characters and this setting.

Base on what evidence? They definitely have a track record of pursuing exclusive full North American rights, but there are lots of titles that they stream to publicize DVD release rather than as a simulcast with Japanese broadcast.

I started to make a list, but it was looking like it would get long so I just said "bunch". A list looks something like this:

Air Master
Blassreiter
Digimon Adventures 02
Fist of the North Star
Galaxy Express 999
Gankutsuou
Linebarrels of Iron
The Tower of DRUAGA -the Aegis of URUK-
The Tower of DRUAGA -the Sword of URUK-

I'd call that a "bunch", and that's just the ones they share with FUNi. Of course there's bound to be more in the future.

Yeah, it's really damn annoying. If the animation were from something like the early years of Reborn, I'd be mad too, but it's not. It's just a bunch of idiots who think they're experts in anime. The animation is fine, in fact, I love the damn animation. It suits the show perfectly fine.

It's not a second season (we're already in season 4), it's just the second year of the anime. Which I will celebrate either way. =D

Filer as bad as Naruto?! Th-there's no way such a feat is possible again... I don't mind Fairy Tail filler as much though, mostly because the only filler so far has been around 2 or 3 episodes, and they were fun to watch.

Maybe, but it just doesn't feel like something FUNi would license. I don't know why... But I can hope. Unless it gets picked up by Sentai, then my hope will be murdered brutally.

Honestly, I love Fairy Tail. It's light hearted like One Piece, but it's not a carbon copy. The characters are lovable, I love the arcs too, haven't found anything I hate about the manga or anime. (A few things bug me, but nothing severe.) The OST is just... AMAZING! It has an Irish rhythm to it, it's catchy, and gets you in the mood for ass kicking, or tear jerker moments. And I'm really looking forward to Charle and Wendy's voices now!
