I'm sure those of you on ADV's mailing list have seen this, but for those who haven't...
Newtype is offering (for the "next 48 hours") a 12 month subscription for $75.

Yeah, I've seen it - and I would've taken advantage of it, but I already renewed my subscription to NTUSA about three months ago. Talk about lousy timing!

I wondered about whether this applies to new subscribers only or if current subscribers can also take advantage of it. Has any one clarified this with NT? I haven't had a chance to call them myself.

I doubled-check the e-mail they sent me, and it looks like it's only for new subscribers.

Well, let's see:
Regular rate: $89.95/12 = $7.50 per issue
Special Promo rate: $75.00/12 = $6.25 per issue
IMO $6.25 per issue seems reasonable for a magazine with the content that NTUSA has. However, all of this is moot now because the promotion has expired (it was only good for 2 days).

I don't care how much it was. No one has a magazine subscription thats that high and it's not worth the money.

I agree. Unless the magazine contains the key to immortality or alchemy, there's no way I'd pay $90/year. Even OPM, which comes with a PS2 demo disk every month, is a mere $40. Anything above that for a monthly publication is insane. For a weekly magazine, maybe...but that's only if it's the best weekly magazine ever.

The subscription renewal rate is $80.95, and as far as I can tell has always been that way.
