Throughout Asia and the world, the youths of today are becoming a generation who cannot imagine life without email, internet, TV and movies, stars and icons, animation and pop art. This fictitious world is more real then real life to these "digital natives", where they project their own thoughts, feelings and dreams, in search of repose of mind and spiritual sustenance. The forum will look at the images and information which are derivatives of this fictitious world, and examine its influence on cultural trends and inter-personal relations. It will also suggest how youths of today can transform their dreams into an impetus in life, and a tangible goal for the future. The speakers shall draw heavily from their own personal experiences, and interesting references will be made to the animations and comics from the on-going exhibition at the Singapore Art Museum “Fiction @ Love”, as well as familiar images from pop and cyber culture. 17 June (Saturday), 2.00 – 5.00pm, Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Level 3 |
