I knew this was coming any time now, based on all the news about his health over the past couple of weeks, but it's still pretty sad to see. I admit, I've grown to really like Matthew Lillard's Shaggy over the years, but there's absolutely no taking away that Kasem WAS Shaggy. I also really liked what snippets I've heard via the internet of his radio personality.

Knowing he playing Shaggy and Robin made me want to watch Battle of the Planets, which became my gateway anime.

I also fondly remember listening to the top 40 countdown going to and from church. I'm lucky to have a local station that's now re-running some of those broadcasts every Sunday morning.

Truly a deep loss, I'm going to miss his voice, his charisma, everything. I grew up with Scooby-Doo and this is indeed devastating. Now he's up there with the greats.

Thanks Mr. Casem, for making "Zoinks!" the best darn exclamation ever.

Oh man! He led a great life and was a big part of Hanna-Barbera shows that I grew up with. Of course I'll also remember him as 'Mark' from 'Battle of the Planets' fame. He will truly be missed.

On a side note this is a surprise because often time when we mention celebs like this people are always under the impression that they've already passed on because of time and the celeb sort of being out of the fans eyes.

To me, Kasey Kasem will always be Mark from Battle of the Planets.

It truly is sad that he's gone. Still, he'll always live on as the voice of so many characters!

R.I.P. The man was a legend, and the classic rock station used to play remastered recordings of his american top 40. I never knew he was shaggy though, so that's crazy.
