Damn, I was really looking forward to watching this in the next month or two. Very strange since the original announcement definitely said spring... There must be a story there. Budget? Creative choice? Some other kind of studio shenanigans?
Oh well, the long wait continues, as with blue jacket Lupin. At least with that there's a chance of seeing it early from the Italian broadcast... |

They've been doing... "Eh". The series was pulled after 4 episodes on the main network (really 3, as they just repeated an earlier episode instead of 4) due to the declining ratings, plus I know the Nicktoons ratings tend to be below 300K, which I know the network can get higher ratings. For reference, these were the ratings for the "Mid-Season Finale" for Season 2:
While not awful by any means, they're definitely not that strong as they could be. Doesn't help it's on a smaller network, but I know the network is capable of doing stronger numbers, since Dragon Ball Kai was able to pull in those higher numbers. One would definitely hope most of these ratings came from children, however. Also, should mention this, the series has been recently reduced to one time slot on the weekends (Saturday and Sundays at 10AM), which had more available slots prior to that, though it's not the only anime affected by this recent change. It's also worth noting that when the toys were on the market, they were put on clearance or stores weren't simply carrying them, plus the franchise was a no show at the Toy Fair this year, outside of the Figuarts. |

...not really? The franchises aren't really all that much alike, apart from a few of the Digimon video games being RPGs. The anime series are nothing alike. Pokemon is essentially a sports anime about kids competing with each other and Digimon is about kids fighting evil to save the world. All they have in common are monsters that change shape, and there are tons of franchises like that. When has Digimon "hounded" Pokemon and tried to outdo it at every turn?
These are OVAs. No official source is calling them movies. The first (and possibly more) is simply getting a limited theatrical release. Also, I don't see how making films would be "hounding" Pokemon. Pokemon has had a film a year since 1998. Digimon used to have twice yearly films and now they're putting a six-part series in theaters. What does that have anything to do with Pokemon? |

That PV could have been shorter and more to the point like that fan one made. The digimon fighting looks really good, but not sure how this will handle beyond Japan.

Movies? Man, I was really looking forward to a brand new series but with the animation looking like a huge step up from Sailor Moon Crystal, at least expectations won't be as bad.
Also, I really hope the actual lengths of these films are actually full movie length like the standard hour and a half and not being 45 minutes or less because OVAs would be more accurate there. |
