By being the first real-time action game in the series

Uh...what? Bro, your predecessor game was the first real time action game in the series. And that's if you're counting just mainline games, because if you're looking at everything with "Final Fantasy" in the title...it's a much, much longer list.

I called out the Attack on Titan inspiration right from the get go. The action and politics around Dominants strongly resembled the Titan powers. Probably the best part of the game for me. Just wish the Eikons themselves had more relevance in the story beyond just being big power ups for the characters.

As for the Game of Thrones bit...yeah the inspirations are loud and clear. All the nudity and frequent f-bombs felt rather jarring and if anything, just made it harder to take the game seriously. Only there for the sake keeping the M rating.

No mention of how poorly female characters are treated by the game?

As nuts for Final Fantasy as I am, I was all on top of this when it was first announced, but once it released I tried twice to start a run through it and I just cant put my finger on what it is..... there's just nothing hooking or grabbing me. And the spots where you get to do high-octane parries and dodges are amazing, but then a cutscene segment starts and I feel like it takes too long to get back to the action. It's really baffling because I find I'm forcing myself to really really make an effort to try and get into it, but I'm just not feeling it for any length of time.

And yet here I am, multiple plays into FF7R, eagerly waiting for part 2, instantly enamored with the giant maps and interactivity, and all of the party interplay. Is it that FF7R is a lot lighter and goofier? Is it that I was just never a Game of Thrones fan with the dark/gritty vibes?

There's games I've skipped in the past that I've gone back and given a second chance as I've gotten older, and I'm feeling like FF16 might just need to be one of those "enjoy it in hindsight" sort of experiences like FF15 seems to have ultimately become for a lot of people. I do hope the successes of 16 keep Yoshi P up with his momentum in the industry though, even if 16 has turned out not to be quite the experience for me personally.

What nudity are you talking? The game had none and had zero onscreen sex scenes. Even during the one scene with Benedikta, they went out of their way not to show anything and didn't use any risque camera angles. The f-bombs and violence never really got to excessive levels that you would see in Game of Thrones or your standard M rated game Western game.

Why does this read like an interview from before the game came out?

I guess it depends how you define real time action. XV and VII Remake did have a wait mode and menus, XII had the Gambit system which played automatically in real time.. even ATB could be counted as 'real time' in a sense. I'm guessing they mean more like Devil May Cry or having the action combos in the corner.

Yes, that specifically.

Like the 5 scenes in the game where the characters are nude. Half of those involved benedikta or anabella. Idk I just skip them whenever they come up. I'm more used to playing JRPGs. Wish more mature titles would go the Soulsborne route and not spam sexual scenes and profanity at every turn. I'm only in it for the action and adventure.

Can't say remember any explicit nudity outside the occasional bareback?

If it comes at the expense of making your characters blank states who don’t talk or storytelling through missable environmental objects nope, nope, nope.

Which is still technically naked, but when people say nudity they probably mean exposed boobs with nipples and visible genitalia, which I don't think they're allowed to do due to CERO. The most we see is Clive's bare butt in one scene. But technically the characters are naked so Laughing

Sekiro would be the exception to the rule if it avoided all the tropes inherent to games of it’s ilk.
