Daimaru Shinsaibashi Department Store Holds Exhibit for 'Nostalgic' Anime
posted on by Kim Morrissy
Do you have fond memories of classic anime from the cel era? Your interests will be well served this month. The Daimaru Shinsaibashi department store in Osaka will hold an exhibit from January 23 to 29 called "Nostalgic Anime: Cels and Prints."
The exhibit will focus on classics such as Kiki's Delivery Service, Sazae-san, and Lupin III. It will show off hand-drawn cels ad prints. Manuscript drafts from famous manga creators such as Osamu Tezuka, Leiji Matsumoto, and Shōtarō Ishinomori will also be on display.
Fans who like to collect cels will also be well-served; there will be a shop for original goods and cels. However, be prepared to dig deep into your cash reserves - a cel of Mei playing on Totoro's stomach is priced at 2.7 million yen (US$24,972).
The exhibit will be located in the special venue in the north building on the first floor.
