Christopher R. Sabat to star as title character

Funimation Entertainment announced the main cast for its English Broadcast dub of Studio Trigger's Ninja Slayer on Tuesday. The cast, under ADR Director Tyler Walker and ADR Engineers Patrick Morphy and Kyle Phillips, includes:

  • Christopher R. Sabat as Fujikido Kenji/Ninja Slayer
  • Bill Jenkins as Laomoto Khan
  • Chris Ryan as Darkninja
  • Kent Williams as Narrator

Funimation began streaming a preview of the dub:

The first dubbed episode will premiere this Thursday, May 21 at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

Funimation is also streaming the show with English subtitles as it airs in Japan, and plans to release the series on home video. The series is also streaming on Niconico

The story was originally posted piecemeal on Twitter by Japanese "translators" Yu Honda and Leika Sugi, allegedly translating the work of American authors "Bradley Bond and Philip [email protected] Morzez." After the story grew in popularity, Enterbrain published the first Japanese-translated volume in print, Ninja Slayer: Neo Saitama in Flames, in September 2012. The story then inspired comic adaptations from Enterbrain and Kodansha (including Kōtarō Sekine's Ninja Slayer Kills in Shōnen Sirius), as well as an audio drama with Toshiyuki Morikawa as the title character.

King Records describes the story:

Kenji Fujikido is a salaryman whose wife and child were killed in a ninja turf war. In a brush with his own death, Fujikido is possessed by an enigmatic ninja soul known as Naraku Ninja. Fujikido cheats death and becomes "Ninja Slayer" -a Grim Reaper destined to kill evil ninja, committed to a personal war of vengeance. Set in the dystopian underworld of Neo-Saitama, Ninja Slayer takes on Soukai Syndicate ninja in mortal combat.
