Comedy manga ended in 2014

This year's October issue of Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine announced on Monday that Makoto Kubota's Tentai Senshi Sunred manga will get a special chapter in the next issue on October 25. Kubota is drawing the chapter and it will have color pages.

The story of the original manga revolves around the hero Sunred's battles against General Vamp and his shadowy group of minions in a spoof of classic Japanese anime and live-action special-effects shows. Kubota launched the manga in 2005 and ended it in 2014. Square Enix published the series in 20 compiled volumes. The manga was nominated for the 15th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2011.

Seiji Kishi (Persona 4: The Animation, Danganronpa the Animation, Assassination Classroom) and AIC A.S.T.A. adapted the manga into two television anime series in 2008 and 2009-2010, respectively. The Nico Nico Douga video-sharing website streamed the first series as it aired.
