Encouragement of Climb Anime's 3rd Season Previewed in 2nd Promo Video

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
New series of 15-minute shorts premieres on July 2

SMIRAL Animation began streaming the second promotional video on Saturday for Yama no Susume Third Season, the third season of the Encouragement of Climb anime. The video previews the opening theme song "Chiheisen Stride" (Horizon Stride) by cast members Yuka Iguchi (Aoi), Kana Asumi (Hinata), Yōko Hikasa (Kaede), and Yui Ogura (Kokona).

The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX and other networks on July 2 at 25:40 (effectively July 3 at 1:40 a.m.). The anime will also stream on 15 services in Japan. The show will have 13 15-minute episodes.

The recent Yama no Susume: Omoide Present OVA and the third season will have the same staff, and the main cast members are returning. Yūsuke Yamamoto will return from the first two seasons to direct at studio 8-Bit. Yuusuke Matsuo returns as character designer and animation director, and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu is the scriptwriter. Tom-H@ck and yamazo are composing the music.

Yuka Iguchi and Kana Asumi will perform the ending theme song "Irochigai no Tsubasa" in character.

The anime is based on Shiro's Yama no Susume manga series. The manga inspired a 12-episode anime series in January 2013. Each episode of the first season was five minutes long. The second season, Yama no Susume Second Season, premiered in July 2014 and had 24 episodes. Each episode in the second season was 15 minutes long. The Yama no Susume: Omoide Present OVA screened at 10 Aeon Cinema theaters in Japan last October.

Crunchyroll streamed both seasons as they aired under the titles Encouragement of Climb and Encouragement of Climb Second Season.

The manga and anime tell the story of childhood friends: Aoi, a girl who prefers staying inside and who has acrophobia, and Hinata, a girl who loves mountains. The two decide to climb a mountain in order to once again see the Morning Sun from its peak as they did when they were young.

Shiro launched the manga in Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star magazine in 2011. The manga's 15th compiled book volume shipped in Japan on March 12. JManga published some of the manga in English before the site shut down.
