June 29 screening includes 1st Cencoroll short, Cencoroll 2 sequel

The official website for Cencoroll Connect, a special joint screening of director Atsuya Uki's first Cencoroll film short and Cencoroll 2 sequel, began streaming a trailer on Friday. The video previews supercell's theme song "LOVE & ROLL."

The Cencoroll Connect screening will open in six Japanese theaters on June 29. The artist ryo (supercell) is returning to compose the music.

The cast includes:

Kana Hanazawa as Yuki

Hiro Shimono as Tetsu

Ryohei Kimura as Shū

Satomi Moriya as Kei

Natsumi Takamori as Kaname, a girl who came to Tetsu's town to pursue Shū. She also controls creatures similar to Cenco

Kenji Akabane as Gotōda, a member of the mysterious organization supporting Kaname

The first Cencoroll theatrical anime short's story begins when a giant monster sends a town's citizens into a panic — except for a girl named Yuki and her schoolmate Tetsu. Tetsu happens to have his own strange creature named Cenco as a pet. Another boy named Shū controls the monster threatening the town, and the stage is set for a battle.

Uki (Digimon Adventure tri., tsuritama) directed, wrote, designed, and animated the first Cencoroll project himself, and it had its world premiere at Canada's Fantasia 2009 festival. It also played in Tokyo, Osaka, and New York at the New York Anime Film Festival. ryo from supercell composed the music.

The Cencoroll 2 sequel was slated to open in summer 2014, but the website had said until this year that it is still in production. Aniplex then teased a "relaunch of the Cencoroll project" in January.
