Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Anime Reveals Cast for Pillar Characters

The official website for the television anime of Koyoharu Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga revealed seven cast members for the Pillars characters on Friday. The website also began streaming a promotional video that introduces the new characters.

The newly announced cast members and characters are:

  • Satoshi Hino as Kyōjurō Rengoku (Flame Pillar; fourth from left in image above)
  • Katsuyuki Konishi as Tengen Uzui (Sound Pillar; third from right)
  • Kana Hanazawa as Mitsuri Kanroji (Love Pillar; third from left)
  • Kengo Kawanishi as Muichirō Tokitō (Mist Pillar; second from left)
  • Tomokazu Sugita as Gyōmei Himejima (Stone Pillar; far left)
  • Kenichi Suzumura as Obanai Iguro (Serpent Pillar; far right)
  • Tomokazu Seki as Sanemi Shinazugawa (Wind Pillar; second from right)

The series premiered on April 6, and Aniplex of America has licensed the anime. The show is streaming on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and FunimationNow. An English dub will air on Adult Swim's Toonami block. The anime will have 26 episodes.

Aniplex of America describes the story:

It is the Taisho Period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself.

Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human, and kill the demon that massacred his family.

Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria the X, Tales of Symphonia the Animation) is directing the anime at ufotable (Fate/Zero, Kara no Kyoukai, Katsugeki: Touken Ranbu). ufotable is also credited for the scripts. Akira Matsushima (Maria Watches Over Us, Tales of Zestiria the X) is the character designer, with Miyuki Sato, Yōko Kajiyama, and Mika Kikuchi serving as sub-character designers. Yuki Kajiura (Sword Art Online, Fate/Zero, Madoka Magica) and Gō Shiina (Tales of Zestiria the X, Juni Taisen: Zodiac War, God Eater) are composing the music. Hikaru Kondo is producing the series.
