"D-?" Did you misplace the "F" on your keyboard?

As James pointed out, literally nobody cares about how Koyori is clinging to this guy's hand and has to be taught everything, not even the show cares. Because at first we have Koyori in her dress while the professor is giving his unending, uncomprehensible exposition, but when we go to the main character's house, she's already in the school uniform. Clearly she changed, but we only know about that in detail when it involves getting naked in a bath with the main character because of course.
In other unsettling details, it really bothers me how the president girl is almost a copy of Nozomi Tojo from Love Live. She's got big breasts, likes music, uses tarot cards and also is a member of the council, in that order of relevance.. Their personalities may not align but I can't shake it off.
Probably what almost offended me was how bland and "categorical" everything is. So far it's been a long exposition of the premise, from what I could gather through my borement was that this was almost Fate Stay Night but way more shameless and uglier about it.
By the way at least one minute of the OP are reused scenes.

And so James Beckett's slow and painful descent into madness began.

So much of this is bad even the proportions on the characters the lack of internal logic the photorealistic backgrounds that do not even look like part of the same world as the characters. Even parts where the animation does not match up with the voice acting. Really the only saving grace for this series was the soundtrack and sound direction and even that is starting to wear a little thin or become monotonous.

I didn't want to waste a perfectly good F on the first two episodes! How else will I communicate if and when things get even worse?

Does anyone have any inkling on what the reaction of the Japanese audience has been so far?

Obviously, for this atrocity, ANN's scoring system needs to be updated. Lets append minus signs to the F. Yeah, that'll work. By episode 7, we'll have a "F------" to look forward to.

I feel bad that it has literally become someone's job to watch this trainwreck and process the experience into a readable form that can somehow convey the badness without descending into pure mad rambling. I know I wouldn't be able to do it.
On the other hand I'm looking forward to reading how this massive clusterfrack carries on. I was one of the people who got disoriented and physically woozy trying to watch the first episode, and I can't bring myself to go back and watch any more of it. On the other hand, the sheer scale of the failure is fascinating. Props to you, reviewer, and thank you for being the thin blue line that stands between me and actually having to watch this garbage. I look forward to the weekly reviews!

The knowledge that my work is entertaining and informing you all is what gets me through the episodes, friend. That, and a lot of breaks to rant excessively at my cats. They always understand.

I couldn't sit trough the second episode, so I'm dropping this. But I'll be reading these reviews, so hang in there and good luck

A buffer! How very astute and foresightly of you. For all we know, delving further into the alphabet than the arbitrary 'F' might well be required. (Remember, some examination boards use letters all the way down to 'U'.)

I am unashamedly one of those who voted for this to be covered - I tend to always watch at least one utterly trashy show per season just to remind me of how good the medium is overall - and applaud your willingness to cover this one.
You are a paragon of a reviewer who deserves to be set up alongside anyone who reviews Gotham as a hero to all of us viewers.
Anyway, I can't disagree with your review here at all. There's nothing sensible about this series so far and the characters don't even seem to know how to act human. It's utterly ridiculous.

Like others, this show has gave me a serious motion sickness, but I can't quite explain why: was it due to the over-saturated color scheme (most of them are rather cold-themed colors), or was it because of the jumpy, shaky and jerky camera angle, as well as the style-over-substance canimation, or was it because of the over designed mechs/weapons?
Can anyone help me figure it out? I mean...I am very open to all animation styles, but this one somehow seriously hindered my viewing experience

It's funny, I've dropped other shows this season, but I sadistically keeping this, even though I know it's easily worse. It's similar to watching a train wreck unfold.

The thing I had the most issue with, aside from the laundry list mentioned already, is Makihara's explanation of the girl's condition.
"You have to hold her hand or she'll DIE! I mean not immediately but eventually she'll die someday without it"
What?! How long will it take?! Depending on hold long it is, that statement could apply to anyone so there may not even be a need to hold her hand every second of the day, which just makes it seem all the more arbitrary.
But otherwise I think James has it characterized correctly. The camerawork was thankfully more restrained but unfortunately that allows us and the writers to focus on the story which is just about as bad as the art and animation, and that's saying something.
Thanks for this James. Your noble sacrifice will be remembered.
