Setting aside potential problems with visuals, and just commenting on the script, I don't think it's possible to condense a huge universe, huge plot with many twists and turns, character development into a 90 min movie. Even you focus on a single aspect of the story it's still impossible IMO. You can't even cover close to a single arc in 90 mins.

You know that the movie will not be about the whole manga ? But the first part of it so at least first Big boss will be Zabuza Momochi.

Even if it ends up bad with Kishimoto approving things it should never get that bad. This guy actually seems to care about making something good that does the franchise some justice.

Oh I realize that they'll obviously have to pick a subset to adapt, though I didn't know it was the Zabuza arc. Still that took 19 straight episodes in the anime! They have to cover the academy life other jonin and genin, the formation of team 7 naruto's background, nature of missions then as they encounter Zabuza, his background and Haru's background. A faithful adaptation of just that arc would be 4.5 movies long! Without the character backgrounds, their motivations, it'll just be another mindless martial arts flick at best.

I feel like whenever a new live action adaptation is announced, we always have the same exact arguments about it but it always ends up turning bad regardless of what side the fans fall on.

After hearing the mediocre response to The Greatest Showman by critics but audiences seem to really love the film, I wonder if Gracey needs to make more films under his belt before deciding to want to take on such a massive franchise such as Naruto because with more movies under his belt, maybe he can get better over time and he should know that adapting something as big as Naruto is a massive undertaking.

Here's hoping and like every other majority of the news of live action anime adaptations made in Hollywood, expect this to also be stuck in development hell for a very long while as we will not be hearing anything more anytime soon.

Well there’s Edge of Tomorrow, and that’s it really.

Edge of Tomorrow.
