I've been missing Tactics. Sucks that I'll have to wait until January, but I'm glad it's coming at all! I was having trouble finding info on vol 8, and I had no idea what was going on. Is this what happened to Genju no Seiza???

Well, I'm thrilled that Aria is back on track, but I too hold out some hope that Life will continue as well. I don't like any series that I'm actively collecting to get canceled (baww Gunslinger Girl) so I hope they keep this one going.

Yay Tactics being back. Although, the last few Tokyopop-published manga (Shin Petshop 4, Kyo Kara Moah 3) I picked up have had RIDICULOUSLY awful paper quality, like, bordering on newsprint, so I hope by January they've got that sorted out. Anyone know what's up with Silver Diamond? They still publishing that one?

Aria lives! |
The delay was almost certainly caused by the necessity to reprint v4 and the cash-flow hit that that represented.
See, v4 sold out. Which means that tokyopop couldn't sell v5, because there'd be all these peeved people who couldn't get v4 and wouldn't buy v5 until they could &c&c.
But the reprint for v4 would be as expensive as printing anything else, and probably wouldn't sell as much. Aria's popular, sure, but it's not twice as popular as their other titles. Since the pipeline would be full of not-yet-printed works that had all those translation and layout and artwork costs paid for and would sell more than the v4 REPRINT [although not the total], the other works would do more for your cash-flow than the reprint.
So v4-reprint gets kicked to the end of the queue and v5 follows after.
Or so it seems to me.

This. I've got a lot invested in that series and I'd hate to see it gone.
If Tokyopop drops it, I hope someone else will pick it up. |
I've been wondering if MOON PHASE's unavailability is due to poor sales or its increasing loli fanservice. Either way I'd really like to see it back. I've been getting more interested in the manga since it moved past the anime's storyline and Grandpa Ryuhei and Elfriede, two of my favorites, made their comeback.

I saw a twitter message from TP a little while ago saying Silver Diamond 5 would be published in 2010.

Don't know what the hell a Twitter is, but if I were a fan of that series, I'd go to the Tokyo Pop site and see if that is truly confirmed or wait until Tokyo Pop announces that volume will be released.
But this great news for fans, at least these series weren't cancelled.

Twitter is a social networking site with official reps from Tokyopop represented on there that you can follow, so if they're saying it on there, it's been announced.

It doesn't seem like it's been that long since Infinity Fortress 2 came out. Wasn't that just earlier this year? Compared to how long some people have been waiting for their final volumes, it hasn't been excessively long yet. |
OK, I'm confused. Did GetBackers Infinity Fortress #3 ever come out? Initial D #34? I had them on order from an online store, and when I wrote to ask what the delay was, they said something like they had come out but there weren't enough copies and I was among those whose order went unfilled.
If they have not yet come out at all, I would be very relieved to hear that.

I never saw a copy of GB:IF 3 in any of my four local bookstores. Three of them are national chains. The fourth is a local independent who gets at least one copy of nearly everything. I assume that GB:IF 3 didn't really get released.

There's still some hope that the LIFE volumes go double digits because there's some rants on tokyopop.com about it and trust me, they were as pissed as all hell! |
Here's to hoping.
