What really annoys me is That the show implies or what have you that Blood C Saya is the original Saya from the movie(Blood: The Last Vampire) which makes NO SENSE. The world of the movie and the series are so insanely different it makes no sense to insist it's the same character. In the original movie the monsters Saya fought were more basic and looked similar because they were a species and not just random monsters. In Blood C the enemies were so cartoony and over the top it makes it impossible to suggest that this Saya and the original movie Saya are the same. What gets me with that is the story doesn't even need it to be the original Saya for it to work. All they would need to do is establish that she was a more violent and aggressive person via the flashbacks they already did and they would let you slowly get what was happening in the same way.

I really don't think it implies that or you should take it that way. This is a franchise where each one has a character named Saya. I think you should just take those brief flashbacks as nothing more then visual shout outs. The creators probably thought it would be cool to have that homage to the first installment. I mean outside of that, there's no other real connection.
I mean the Blood C movie also opens up on a train, just like the 1st movie.

Had a few interesting elements. The action scenes were dynamic and inventive. A lot of sadistic cruelty for its own sake, pretty much violence porn in the later episodes.
The BIG plot twist was... interesting I suppose. But as Carlo says, can be considered kind of a cop-out, reminiscent of the "All just a dream" trope.
The movie was pretty run-of-the-mill and by-the-numbers. Generic, clichéd phrases to describe a generic, clichéd movie. Even the plot twist near the end is quite generic. Didn't do a great job of explaining a lot of the open questions from the TV series.
I did find it amusing though that cutesy, high pitched voice Saya suddenly transforms into serious, deep voice Saya for the movie. Because having a significantly deeper voice means things have gotten serious. |
You have to realized that at the end of the series she has been shattered completely, she's been tricked and lied to and she's angry and out for vengeance, So of course she sounds more serious, you would be to if you had found this out.

This has been one of my favorite shows, for those who claim this is a let down, it was quite clear something was up at certain points in the story, and if you don't think so clearly you were not paying attention.

Actually reading that review rather than just looking at the letter rankings might give you a clue

Uh, you seem to be mistaken. Most people figured out the so-called "plot twist" far in advance; it was pretty obvious, and the show did nothing to try and hide it. We then had to wait for the story to formally unveil it many episodes later, whereby I wanted to strangle Watanuki because he was so irritating.

I would agree with you, except that comparing BLOOD-C to manure is insulting . . . to manure. That is to say, even normal crappy shows aren't as bad as this systemic trainwreck. It has to be one of the absolute worst shows I have ever watched. And that last episode is revolting and just plain vile. |
You are still watching the show in the wrong light. Remember I said this was comedy AOTY of 2011, nothing in show is meant to be taken seriously.

I am highly dubious towards that claim.

If they are homage or not I can't really say I lean towards the other direction. I mean those scenes are animated as flash backs and they are the exact same scenes from the movie but only redone with Blood C Saya. I mean that implies pretty heavily that it's supposed to be the same character. If it's not it certainly gives that impression. I haven't seen the movie and don't intend to as I hated the series and don't really see a need to watch it but I would assume if there is a train sequence in it that it's not a flashback(please correct me if I'm wrong as I said I haven't seen it) and if it isn't that is the way to do a homage as it's not a flash back that can cause you to think one thing when in reality they mean nothing from it. I know aside from those flash back there is no other connection and that is why the annoy me. They imply something that doesn't make sense nor need to even be there for the story to continue or make sense and that just gets to me.

I see this is on Hulu, but it's censored. Has anyone seen the censored version? Does it ruin the story or am I just going to miss a few intestines?
Thanks!

You'll miss one of the most hilariously dark and disturbing final episodes ever created.
It's worth buying just to witness it.

You can watch the entire uncensored show on Funimation's Youtube channel, albeit subbed.
