Comic Market 87 Draws 560,000 Across 3 Days

posted on by Egan Loo

The Comic Market (Comiket) 87 event reported an attendance of about 560,000 over the course of three days this week. The total is 30,000 less than Comiket 84's record total of 590,000 during the summer of 2013. However, it set a new record for winter Comiket, surpassing Comiket 85's total of 520,000 last winter and the previous winter record-holder, Comiket 83 with 550,000 in 2012.

Comiket 87 reported 180,000 attendees on the first day, 170,000 on the second day, and 210,000 on the third day. The third day's 210,000 total tied the one-day record set on Comiket 82's last day (Summer 2012), Comiket 84's first and second day (Summer 2013), and Comiket 86's third day (Summer 2014). Comiket does not have unique passes for visitors, so a person who attends all three days would be counted three times.

About 11,800 circles had booths on Sunday, followed by 11,700 circles and 11,500 circles on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Tuesday featured Love Live! dōjinshi, as well as Fate/stay night, Touhou Project, Danganronpa, Love Live!, and Kantai Collection -Kan Colle- cosplayers.
