How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? Voice Actress Pumps Iron at Gold's Gym

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

This season's How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? anime follows one girl's quest to get fit by summer with absolutely no knowledge on how to properly exercise. That girl is Hibiki Sakura and she's voiced by Ai Fairouz. Fairouz has a bit more experience than her anime counterpart; she's watched YouTube videos and read blogs on muscle training before, including how-tos by trainer and entertainer Kin'nikun Nakayama. Nakayama and Fairouz are pairing up for a series of gym videos to promote How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?

In the videos, Nakayama and Fairouz head to Gold's Gym in Harajuku, the model of "Silver Man's Gym" from the manga and anime. Both try out the dumbbells at the gym for the first video and will move on to other equipment for new installments each week.

The series will premiere on July 3 at 10:30 p.m. on the AT-X channel, and it will then run on Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and other stations. The "body-building comedy" centers around Hibiki, a high school girl who loves eating, and Akemi, the beautiful and charismatic student council president who has a muscle fetish.

Funimation will stream the series as it airs in Japan.

Sandrovich and MAAM, a relatively new manga artist, launched the manga on Shogakukan's web manga site Ura Sunday and on Shogakukan's Manga One app in 2016. Shogakukan published the sixth volume in January, and the seventh will ship on June 19. Seven Seas Entertainment will publish the first manga volume in English on November 19.
