Indonesian publisher Elex Media Komputindo revealed on Friday that it has licensed Aguri Kurita's Ace no Keifu (Genealogy of the Aces) manga. Elex Media will release the manga's first volume on November 15.
The manga adapts Natsumi Iwasaki's 2011 novel of the same name. The novel takes place at a high school that does not have a baseball team, but instead has a barely-maintained field and a baseball appreciation club that does not practice playing. The club's adviser, randomly assigned to the club, holds a secret dream of reviving the baseball team in the school and taking it to Kōshien, no matter how many years it takes. He reinvigorates the club by attracting ace batters and pitchers to the team, whose skills he plans to pass on institutionally to new members over the course of generations.
Kurita launched the manga in Kodansha's Shōnen Rival magazine in 2012. Kodansha published three compiled book volumes for the series.
Kōji Kumeta (Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, Kakushigoto, The Eccentric Family) drew the cover for the original novel.
Iwasaki's Moshidora (Moshi Kōkō Yakyū no Joshi Manager ga Drucker no "Management" o Yondara or Drucker in the Dug-Out) 2009 novel about a female baseball team manager who uses Peter Drucker's business principles inspired a manga in 2010, and a television anime and live-action film in 2011.
