HIDIVE Schedules UQ Holder! Anime in U.S., Canada

posted on by Karen Ressler
Series is currently exclusive to Amazon in U.S.

HIDIVE announced on Wednesday that it will stream the television anime of Ken Akamatsu's UQ Holder! (UQ Holder! Magister Negi Magi! 2) manga in the United States and Canada. HIDIVE will add new episodes on Fridays beginning on May 25 at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

The series was previously exclusive to Amazon's now-defunct streaming channel Anime Strike in the United States, and is still available on Amazon Prime. HIDIVE is already streaming the series in the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Central America, South America, Spain, and Portugal.

The 12-episode anime premiered in October.

UQ Holder! is set in the world of Akamatsu's Negima! Magister Negi Magi manga, and takes place years after the earlier manga. The story centers on a boy named Touta who dreams of leaving his small town and moving to the city. However, he must first defeat his teacher, the immortal Evangeline.

Youhei Suzuki (Urara Meirochō, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Sword Oratoria) directed the anime at J.C. Staff. Akamatsu himself was in charge of the series scripts alongside Shogo Yasukawa (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, Alderamin on the Sky). Masahiro Fujii (Hayate the Combat Butler, The Familiar of Zero) designed the characters, and EGG FIRM produced the series.
