Tomohiko Ito and Mekki Kuroyama's Wonder X manga ended its first part with the 15th chapter last Friday. While the chapter ended stating that only the manga's "first part" was ending, it also included a "thank you for reading" statement that is commonly found on manga that are definitively ending.

The manga is set in the first half of the 90s, and centers on the adventure of a group of kids after they make contact with a mysterious being that calls itself an alien.

Ito and Kuroyama launched the manga in Kadokawa's Comic Newtype web manga in September 2022. Kadokawa published the manga's second compiled book volume in September 2024.

Ito is perhaps best known for directing the first two seasons of the Sword Art Online anime, as well as the Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale anime film. Ito also directed such anime as Occult Academy, Silver Spoon, ERASED, and Hello World. Most recently, he is slated to direct the anime film adaptation of Keigo Higashino's Kusunoki no Bannin (The Camphorwood Custodian) novel, which will debut in 2026.
