City Hunter PC Engine Game Gets 'Revival Version' on February 26

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
New version offered in multiple languages globally on PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Steam

Sunsoft, Clouded Leopard Entertainment, and Red Art Studios announced on Thursday that they will release a "revival version" of the 1990 City Hunter PC Engine game on PlayStation 5, Switch, Switch 2, and PC via Steam on February 26 worldwide. The game is based on Tsukasa Hōjō's manga of the same name.

The game will be available in Japanese, English, French (including the Nicky Larson version), German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

Hojo's City Hunter manga ran from 1985 to 1991 and has 35 volumes. The manga inspired four television anime series, three anime films, and several video and television specials including a 2015 original anime DVD. The original anime premiered in April 1987. The City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes anime film opened in Japan in February 2019, and the City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust film opened in September 2023. The manga inspired a new Japanese live-action film that launched on Netflix worldwide in April 2024.

Coamix and Imagineer's MangaHot app and website is publishing the City Hunter manga in English digitally. Abrams ComicArts' Kana imprint licensed the manga, and plans to release the series in omnibus editions in print. Kana is using new English translations for the release.
