I get where they would be coming from, but they heavily overestimate Mami. Heavily!

The usual Mami routine includes Mami appearing for few minutes, then making a scary face at the end. Rinse and repeat.

Season 2 marks the time Mami vanishes from the manga for close to 90 chapters. She still has appearances, but she easily has the least amount of screentime. She is not spicing anything up and I sincerely doubt that this work will ever reach the terrible Paradise arc, where she would be relevant again.
