To quote someone on another forum, the season was "canceled" earlier on; thus, "relaunch".

Why not do both? Watch it subbed until it gets licensed, then buy it! That's how I rolled with the first season, and my plan shall come back into effect for the second! Very Happy

Well this is certainly good news. I won't comment about watching it fan subbed, but once it gets licensed (and it will) I'll be all over it. I just wonder if Bandai will still be releasing in single volumes by then.

I know people have addressed it in forums, but still, "relaunch" sounds a little too much like Hagane2 or Negima?!. Haruhi 1 was perfect and there is absolutely no need to retell that story. I hope Haruhi2 really is going to cover The Disappearance!!

Again... It's a publicity stunt of sorts, or rather, KyoAni doing a play on words again.

Season Two was cancelled mid-year last year (2008). Clever wordplay on the fact that since Season two cannot be part of The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya, it's now it's own series as The Disappeance of Haruhi Suzumiya. At the same time they mention working on some Haruhi related that's new...perhaps referring to the Chruruya and Haruhi-chan anime.

As such, they are "relaunching" (def.: "Reintroduction of a product or marketing campaign after it has been discontinued for a period of time and then undergone some sort of improvement or change.") Haruhi 2... read: The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Hope that makes more sense.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. The only impediment to licensing this I could see would the Japanese asking an astronomical price for it based off the success over here for the first.
