I know it was far from the best show ever made (I never made it beyond the first few episodes) but, given that it was actually about a school dance club, I wondered whether some of the sequences from Hanayamata might have been granted a mention - even if the OP paid a considerable amount of homage to Lucky Star.!

Agreed, and like Lucky Star, it had a version with the seiyuu:

Even to its fans, Lucky Star was an OP with a show attached. Smile

And Kodocha may have had its Macarena opening, but as for dancing its butt off, "Seven O'Clock News" also had its isolated moments:

Ah, Beyond the Boundary's idol episode. That was one where I thought it was so bad...it was good! Laughing

where the shit is space dandy on this list.... disappointed

For a series that wasn't about dancing, Space Dandy had more dancing than you can shake a booty at.

For series that are about dancing, I'd include Hanayamata (though there was precious little dancing in it, considering) and Tribe Cool Crew. And Princess Tutu, for the classical side.

There is an undeniable crossover between voice actors, J-Pop, and otaku culture. If a voice actress can be marketed as an anisong singer, she can supplement her income outside of the sound booth with concerts, CD sales, and more merchandise.

As a prime example and just for the retro fun of it, I give you this bizarre little video that just gets more wtf and embarrassing as it goes on...and on... (the only direction they received seems to be "Gyrate and try to look cool.") It's like they got a toybox of classic video effects for Christmas and couldn't wait to try them out, reason be damned (random morphing warning). Very Happy

No Princess Tutu?

A dance list without Princess Tutu is like a pizzeria that doesn't serve pizza.

Goodbye, we're closed.

My favorite instance of robot dancing is the Gyrozetter ending

Robots doing idol moves are the best.

The Naruto anime had a lot of dancing like that

Bacchikoi was the best one. Hinata surprisingly knows how to shake her money maker.

There's not much of it, but I always loved the King Gainer OP dancing.

One of my all-time favourite anime opening sequences is Urusei Yatsura OP 2, "Dancing Star", where the "dancing" in question is mostly just disco pointing.

It may not be much of a "dance", but the advantage of disco pointing is that it's the one dance move I can actually pull off

Good list with Haruhi deserving the top spot. Just don't forget Detective Conan got into the act way before the others:

My first thought when I read the title was Nerima Daikon Brothers, but after reading the other choices, perhaps it doesn't fit since it's literally a musical show with singing and dancing by design...
Regardless, if we're just talking about particular sequences, then I'd have to go with the money song & dance number from the show.

Lol at the silhouette of Shinichi doing a face palm of shame.

@ Covnam: Yes! I love the Money songs. I think I like them better in English than in Japanese, though I do like the "bad, bad money for you" part.

Some all too brief but notable dancing in the OP of Gugure! Kokkuri-san too. Smile

Really no Space Dandy? There's multiple dancing based episodes, like the musical or the dance competition. And just all the dancing that's in other episodes.
