As much as I agree (and most Japanese, according to multiple surveys), with having more than a week left until it starts, it would be pointless, sending the athletes and their staff home who are already there would be a logistical nightmare. It should have happened months ago.

Can't they have picked slots not affected by Olympic coverage

Sunday night 7pm is prime time viewing understandable they'd go for that.

As they're trying to get maximum viewers for a mainstream anime wouldn't make sense to put it late at night.

During the Olympics theres no great time during prime time hours of 6pm to 9pm because night time sessions / finals can last well in to the evening..

Distractions from how shit the world is right now is just as important.


In a way, it's kind of a reminder that some things still are not in a good place. There will be no international spectators, which is a reminder that travel still is risky, and there has been plenty of coverage that the Olympics are pretty unpopular in Japan right now due to the risks involved.
