One of the biggest jokes at the time was how Madoka was just Ryuki in Magical Girl form. Same characters and story beats and everything. |

I went with mature because Kamen Rider (particularly the Toshiki Inoue written ones) has themes/event that I think are not typical/unfound/unexpected in a kid's show format. Things like Kiba from Faiz spoiler[killing his ex-gf and Kusaka] later on or, IIRC, Kuuga's spoiler[coverage of child kidnapping]. As a Western viewer, it was even surprising to find that blood is a normalcy in Super Sentai -- I don't recall this at all in Power Rangers. That said, I don't really need these to enjoy a Kamen Rider series. For me, if the suits are cool, I'll watch it but I'll enjoy the show more with good characters and good theme usage (Godai's optimism in Kuuga, FRIENDSHIP in Fourze, "greed" in OOO, etc.). |
