Really? The anime series were 2 page synopses, then you had the 12 posters, then a summer manga section (which most of this was out before summer) & finally a video game section with reviews from The Official PlayStation Magazine... which is also published by Future US.
OK, No DVD or CD, but it's $9.99 at my local grocery store. Is Otaku USA more than that? BTW, PiQ got nailed for including video games. Is anyone nailing Future Anime?!

Heh, no, PiQ go nailed because people had a grudge against it from the start. They'll deny it left and right, but honestly, it was as plain as day in most cases.

I was going to get this and try it out anyway, but this is definitely pleasing news.

Is it sad that I'm sold JUST by the mention of a Simoun poster? :D;;;

Sounds intriguing. Hopin' for the best with this one. Nintendo Power has been a great magazine, so I'll definitely give this one a try.

i was also a fan of nintendo power over the other game magazines back in earlier decades.
i plan to at least buy the first volume to see what the articles are like. the posters have a lot to do with that.

Well, lets see. They've got anime on the cover, so thats a win.
I think I'm going to pick this up, and i can't beat $6.
...that is, if the stupid clerk will not fault me for being a penny off a dollar.

I don't know if I have any more wall space, but those posters seem like a selling point to me. I've been meaning to get an FMA one for a while now...
Oh, and for those of you who didn't know; Future US was not the publisher of Nintendo Power back in the day...that was Nintendo themselves. Future has only been doing NP for the last 6 months or so. They're doing a pretty good job with it though, so this magazine could be interesting.

OtakuUSA is $59.99 for a 12 issue subscription (I subscribed in March), that's about $5.00/issue. It comes with a free DVD and is an acceptable replacement for NTUSA IMHO, as is Protoculture Addicts.
This new magazine sounds interesting I shall have to check it out.
It certainly sounds better than PiQ was.
But then again...if PiQ had come with an image of a roll of Toilet Paper on the front cover and was entitled "POS magazine, Aggravation for the rest of us." It couldn't possibly have done any worse than it did.
Considering how the first and second issues dealt in part with some of the Adult Swim comedy programs that many die-hard anime fans despise, its really no wonder why former NTUSA subscribers weren't pleased with it and chose to dump it.
I have all four issues of that monstrosity and can say from personal experience that that magazine left much to be desired (from an Otaku's standpoint anyway).
To answer the question raised in the first issue of PiQ;
"Is anime dead?"
The short answer is NO, but PiQ certainly is.
Thank the gods of anime that its finally been put out of its misery.

Cool, I'll have to check this out. Twelve included posters right away makes this interesting (especially since I'm a fan of a lot of the mentioned series), although I'm not sure where I'll find the wall space for them
I wonder, though, will including all these posters potentially skew the response this experiment receives from fans? I wouldn't imagine they plan on doing this for every issue in the event that Future Anime becomes a recurring publication...

Am I the only one happy about ALL the posters minus Afro Samurai? ^ _ ^;

PiQ got nailed for a number of reasons.
* The transfer of NewtypeUSA Subscriptions to a magazine that many people didn't want in the first place. IIRC, many wanted refunds. Which as of this writing, nobody has gotten yet.
* The format, which has be replicated in numerous other magazines, some even closely mirroring it with a couple of exceptions. Tell me why I should get PiQ when play or Geek will suffice and has better content and a better format?
* The subject matter, which goes from mostly Japanese Culture to mostly Western Geek Culture. And what exactly do they report on in the first two issues? The Comedy Blocks of [adult swim]!! Which *SURPRISE*many former readers of NTUSA hated!! Like selling porn to kids or guns to gun-control advocates.
There is more, but damn if I look further, i'd be the first person to get glass cuts from an LCD monitor for punching my screen!!!
