I'm rather surprised you've heard of Pimm's Cups or Pimm's liqueur, Erin, not many people in the US know about them.

There's a certain Irish bar around here that serves them. Also, the speakeasy-style bars that are all the rage lately tend to serve them.

You know, having read the opinion on Hidamari Sketch, I recall absolutely nothing of this series other than the fanciful art they used in the background. Nothing. No story. No characters.

Damn, that must have been one hell of a dull series for me to forget it.

I find this criticism from a big Aria fan kind of ironic Smile

@Vulcannis, Planetes isn't slice of life, it just seems that way at the start.

@Erin, thanks for the link to the Past My Bedtime articles. Nice to get a bit more insight into the totally non-intuitive way anime is produced and programmed in Japan.

I was just listing some samples from tvtropes, it's been a few years since I saw it so I can't vouch for accuracy. And it doesn't affect my argument anyway, which was that moe and slice of life are distinct genres.

Though going just from your comment I'd say Planetes qualifies. Many (most?) series are of multiple genres and shift emphasis as they go. The concept of genre becomes pretty useless if it needs to cover the entire run of a series.
