Gosh, I wish I had noticed that quoting thing last week. The number of lines I can quote from anime is... well, a lot. Those I whip out most frequently are from Evangelion ("The one truth the Lilim have never been able to grasp is that death may be the only absolute freedom there ever was." Oh, and I've memorized the entirety of "Komm, Susser Tod"; how depressing is that?), Excel Saga ("Holy jump-cuts!!"), Abenobashi ("Hey there, F**KIN' cowboy, F**KIN' cowgirl, how the F**K are you doin'??"), and of course, Akira ("TETSUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!")

Sorry, Akemi Loli Mokoto, but when you do this ridiculous sheisse, you ARE going to be the butt of jokes. Much as I'd like to believe you are just a figment of some demented fanboy's imagination, you will have to learn sooner or later that that is one of the harsh facts of life.

Yeah I looked at some of those USDL websites. To quote James Bond (Connery) "Shocking... positively shocking."

It seems to me that if you claim that you can't find "experimental" manga, you're not even looking.

Yes, there are a great number of series that conform to what sells, but there are more titles out there of manga that play with the medium and approach mature issues than western comics do.

The whole Slice of Life genre would never sell in the quantities it does in Japan that a western produced slice of life series would sell in comic shops. Not all of the titles are happy ones that make you smile. A lot are rather depressing to be honest.

Would a western comic series written for teens about competitive bread baking ever make it past the editors here? How about curry instead? A romance series about a boy who drinks a girl's drool on a whim and falls for her? Would Marvel, DC, or even a niche publisher ever release a series about medieval trade economics? A boy with a pint-sized girl replacing his hand?

These are the more mainstream titles. I didn't even get to the really strange ones.

"...we're another group of narcissistic, loud otaku who are going to whine and moan because we can't see drawings of 6-year-old girls being raped, and we're going to make our pleas go to the heavens." Please. We've been down this road before. So you're publishing a newsletter. (edited in light of a comment I'd missed.). Take a number. Or a pill. You can leave in a taxi, or you can leave in a huff. If that's too soon, you can leave in a minute 'n' a huff. You know you haven't stopped talking since I got here? What were you, vaccinated with a phonograph needle?

Apostrophes are your friends. I suggest you begin using them, if you want even the remotest possibility of being taken seriously. Then again, I like the idea that you WERE here to stay, but changed your mind.

Oh. The obligatory defiant threat. Now are you going to hold your breath till you're blue in the face? Oh, how precious!

Narcissistic loli dude wrote:

Lead by example, "friend." Lead by example.

Narcissistic loli dude wrote:

No. This will NOT become some sort of "tu quoque" one-upmanship. You made yourself look like a jackass because you want loli to be free for all, as if the Founding Fathers themselves set up the Republic solely so you could look at drawings of six-year-old girls being raped. Then you made yourself a public nuisance by posting a feeble broadside against Zac, who has made his views on the matter clearer than crystal. Then he slapped your hand, and you throw a temper tantrum. And we're (note use of apostrophe, by the way) the ones with the problem?

Narcissistic loli dude wrote:
Egomania isn’t something you should be expressing
Drop your narcissism, and perhaps we'll drop our egomania. This is all about your "woe is me! woe is me! This is a fascist country because I can't read loli! Because the nasty Bush Administration forced Jason de Angelis to stop Nymphet at gunpoint, threatening even his little dog too if he published the manga!" nonsense.

A Board Certified Dumbass is still better than a narcissistic Hikikomori who's probably typing his drivel on Mommy's computer.

It's "with nothing in THEIR LIVES to do but attack loli fans and jack off to Japanese idols from THEIR (subject agreement...where were you brought up?) favorite anime magazine." Can't help with the jackassery of the statement, but at least now it's gramatically correct jackassery.

editing out, as it really doesn't add anything to the conversation other than a bit of one-upmanship.

I can't say the same for the other guys here arguing with you after your earlier hostile post but I had no intention of putting down the lolicon army but I was just stating some facts of the sort. No need to spout off gay rights quotes or being venomously defensive about it. (and no I am not calling you guys gay. It's just an example).

We get it. Your an honest to goodness organization. But its the intranet, you can't blame others for being skeptical. You do realize the number of fake sites and fake myspace or facebook or whatever out there. That's all. And you'll have to forgive others for finding it unusual cause it really really seems like you guys are on the same level as, lets say,... a porn or hentai activist. Odds are its more then that but yeah, it doesn't come off as that. Sorry.

I get the importance of the lolicon design. They are defining point in any character's personality and as well as shapes the character's personality. It's the same reason we have the overly sexy design and other general character designs. They have their presets of character personality that the creators can then use, add to, or void out to shape their characters. That much I can respect and I'm sure a number of people understand or unconsciously get that too. Heck look at my avatar. It's when it goes beyond that when you'll get people arguing with you. We get it. You like it. Don't be so venomous when someone doesn't share your enthusiasm.

Also when people write to the answerman, when he does answer a email, its USUALLY in the article. That's also kind of the purpose of the "flake of the week" highlight too. To bring out the more unusual emails. They all aren't necessarily bad emails or highlights of stupid things although most of them are. They are just generally different from the average letters or emails.

And to others arguing with this lolicon army. Okay we get it. Not your thing or choice of design. But it's really inappropriate and naive calling them all CP users. Doing that is no different when the media tries to tie negative social behaviors to anime like all the Death Note stuff or when people go on killing sprees. Things our never simply one thing or the other. Especially with people. Why do you think there are so many "I never would have dream he/she would do that. He/She was just the nicest person." It's fine if you don't like them but keep your own venom down too. Stop trolling the guy and also lolicon guys try not to troll in return. One should never feed a troll. They deserve to starve.

Poor sales won't destroy the industry, it's all the anime "fans" who stick to specific genres like fascists to the motherland. And everybody has a damn inferiority complex it seems.

I'd say that what you say is bad is pretty normal, that people tend to stick with what they like a radical concept I have heard about. I think my anime collection and fandom are fine, so why should I support/see a genre type that I have no interest in seeing again?

You're not the problem if you don't flame the fans of genres you're not interested in. It's the constant banter that comes up when, say, a new anime is green-lit (or hell, even reviewed here at ANN): "OMG, not another moe, lolicon, harem, etc show. Stupid otaku. You guys are sickos who like sucky character designs! Anime is finished!" I want to punch this person, because little does he know that not only do I like the genres mentioned above that he hates but I also probably like, own, or have seen the kinds of shows he does as well, which makes it damn hard to have any hope in anime fandom when people get so stuck up.

Oh, the Dragon Slave spell, my old friend! And Serena's battle cry...is it bad that I can recite all the Sailor Moon attacks in the dub and sub? Embarassed I am surprised that The Utena Quote didn't show up - "Smash the world's shell! For the revolution of the world!"

(I think of it whenever I make eggs... Wink )

That reminds me, anyone even bother to revive this series? I'm surprised that they can revive C.O.P.S., Silverhawks, Captain N The Game Master, Jem, and other but not this.

If I recall, SPC is owned by Saban (?) and I don't know if they've caught on to the old-school market (though I'm sure they'd make a killing on the first few seasons of Power Rangers). I'd be interested to know if Saban owns the rights to the original Japanese version. As we all know, Saban was forced to take liberties with the dub, almost creating a new show. I'd like to see the original with subtitles and compare them (I understand the music is supposed to be pretty good).

In any case, I heartily agree with Hon'ya-chan and would want both Dub and Sub versions on DVD

If we have to hate shounen then we have to hate shoujo as well- and this is coming from someone that LOVES Bleach and Hikaru no Go but also loves anime/manga like Soul Eater, Lucky Star, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Fullmetal Alchemist, Shining Tears X Wind and so on.

I'm sorry, but if those were supposed to be examples of shoujo, I don't see any on there. 0_o They are all shounen (Shining Tears though is based on the RPG games, so assumingly shounen as well).

While I 99% agree with Pedo= lowest scum (I revise to pedo rapist= lowest scum, regular= 2nd lowest), I do have 1 question:

I clicked through to a couple of your sites last week, and was immedately presented with pictures of little anime girls in their underpants. Ummm... what excactly am I supposed to think when I see that first and foremost? (This isn't a jab- I'm honestly, seriously curious.)
