First, the iPad is even more restrictive in regards to moderately explicit content, they won't even allow Playboy to have an app unless it's non-nude. You can get a specialized app for it that basically displays their website archive.

Second, you obviously aren't the target market for these products, since you are boasting about having "a crap load of scans" as opposed to a "crap load of legally purchased digital content".

Has anyone checked to see how Amazon deals with similarly explicit female/female content?

As a straight guy, I have to laugh at the homophobia America seems to have. I remember when Viz censored the Boy on Boy Sexy Jutsu in the Naruto manga (yet conveniently kept the G irl on Girl Sexy Jutsu Rolling Eyes ) and I just had to laugh at their hypocrisy. As a cynic, I have to say this is the kind of behavior that doesn't really make me upset that anime and manga dropped in popularity in America. In all honestly, America just really isn't ready for anime and manga; or maybe it never was (the most popular stuff here seems to be the stuff that was never all that popular in Japan in the first place, like Cowboy Bebop, and seems more Hollywood movie-esque). TV broadcast (Sailor Moon's 'cousins' incident) is one thing, but censoring, banning, or refusing to carry the stuff is just absurd. Just another piece to add to the pile of silly censorship and puritan behavior.

This is not censorship. Private shops like Amazon has the right to sell or not sell whatever legal item it wants. At the same time, customers have the right to take their business elsewhere.

The problem is, for Kindle, most of its stuffs are from Amazon (there are a few other shops that work with it). I suppose, the paper versions of those e-manga are still available on Amazon proper, so the problem stays with Kindle.

So...the problem lies with the Kindle not Amazon.com, right? Because if that's the issue, then shouldn't consumers (who are yaoi fans) just purchase the books as opposed to electronic books? It sounds more like a financial issue than a prejudice one, but I'm just speculating...

For ebooks I really think DMP and most publishers should just target Android with the rise in tablets. They would have the advantage of being able to control all of their own content without having to go through Android marketplace for the actual ebooks. Or just having an online web app without a specialized reader application might be a better solution.

For Kindle all their stuff is to be purchased from Amazon - legally anyways because you're suppose to be tied into their store. I mean there are sites that offer free domain books in Kindle format but that doesn't count as they're free to the public. Now if it's illegally, people have used Python to break DRM and then calibre to convert the files into kindle recognizable file format (file format only used by them). That's what most people are doing anyways - so they shouldn't even have that much of a difficulty getting their yaoi e-manga.

Keitchitsu0305: The problem lies with Amazon because they make, own and sell Kindle. So it's Amazon's decision to ban those books from sale - though I'm wondering if they are planning on banning the paper version as well. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have such a problem with the digital format and be okay with the paper format.

who said my scans are illegal, i have manga, a scanner and jail-broken I pad. Yea i am not the legal means by some and I do have some "scan translations" no one is going to do kodom on jikan or to love ru here but i do own the original hard copies for most but yes this is going off subject.

Listen I hate restriction of freedom in any form and I do find this to be bull shit. Like I said though bl Isn't my thing even though I am giving the spring anime a chance and liking it so far I do feel sorry for the fans of this stuff and I don't think males care about female x female content which to me is a load of bull but eh what can you do? I don't use the I-pad or I-pod by apples terms but that's me i just prefer them over the kindle is all.

Companies selling any products have the right to refuse to sell something for certain reasons. Amazon choose to remove them from the Kindle and it is their choice. Is it far? No, but again it is their choice. Remember when amazon removed that pedo book a few months ago that everyone bitched about having never read it?

oh that yeah i did... that was just well hmm i don't really have any words for that but well hmm..that's the book Lolita "i have never read and I don't think I ever will" This is going off subject though, I don't think amazon willingly took it off saying "oh it's man on man action" i think there is something behind the scenes that they do not want people to know but this is just me. I really don't have much more to say on this, what happens is what happens.

With bulls--- censorship like this, people still think e-readers and digital control systems like this are the future? Did no one read Fahrenheit 451?

Restaurants also reserved the right to refuse service to black people; doesn't make it any less bigoted.

And Ishihara starts to influence US decisions already.
Don't like BL but I'll join to keep it alive. Got to help or all genres will be taken down.

No, that's illegal. There are legal bigoted and illegal bigoted acts. Nobody should restrict Amazon's freedom to do something legal, even if you think it's bigoted.

Yes, there's no consistency. The U.S. Supreme Court says it's acceptable for a private Christian group to discriminate against gays as long as they do not use public money or publicly-owned facilities, but it's illegal for a private restaurant to discriminate based on skin color.

Do these heterosexual adult works also contain underage relationships? This trait seems to be a common denominator between all the removed works. Before the "double standard" flag is thrown down, it should be corroborated.

Actually, at least 1 work, chapter 2 of Kiss Ariki by Youka Nitta was removed. The characters in it were NOT underage but there was explicit sex.
Now, I was all over the double standard battle cry yesterday. Until today one of the hetero hentai that was used as an example on another site yesterday was gone today. So, it may be that Amazon is slowly removing everything that they find offensive. But there is plenty of porn, both real and manga, on Kindle. So only time will tell. But to me, the fact that they're removing all of this screams fascist. And Amazon will have lost my considerable business (and as much business from my friends and family as I can manage) if they continue this crap.
