Oh yeah, Wagnaria!!!3 Part 2 is out this week. I guess i'll end up ordering that, that show ended very strongly.

I'm curious about that Beelzebub anime; I read the manga back in the day while it was still running, and quite enjoyed it (even though the story become something completely different every arc). Does anyone know how far the anime went in adapting the story? I'm hoping it eventually adapted the "Furuichi Tissue Arc"

I watched both Aquarion and Aquarion EVOL both are goo in their own way but EVOL lost me due to the ending of the series. Although the animation quality was better and the character design for the female characters by Kana Ishida (most famous for her work as the illustrator for The Irregular At Magic High School Light Novel series).

Is what originally drew me into watching the series and on its own, it is a good series but it ended up frustrating me due to how it retconned the first season.

Aquarion EVOL is now a SAVE set so it's cheap so I bought it... for various reasons I had to make an order of nothing but cart toppers and this new release was one of them... plus the first one because... I have Aquarian Age and I keep confusing the two. Wait, because I kept confusing the two? No, I always forget Aquarion exists. Or rather, I keep forgetting they both exist. Aquarian Age is one of those DVDs that is a widescreen ratio but not anamorphic so when I tried to watch it, I have to zoom in on it; Otherwise, it's double framed black boxes for me. But that's not the point.

Aquarion is not a bad show but that fact... that it's not outright terrible... and the orgasm hook are the only things I remember about it. There's a number of shows from Funimation's dark age like this one, Glass Fleet and Blassreiter that make me wonder how they made it out of the DVD bust era. They must have sold a lot more DBZ than I remember. But that's not the point.

I watched half of Evol back when it first streamed but decided to wait to see what a dub would do with it and when I joined Funi's site, I added the dub to my queue but I never bothered to watch it before buying it because their site is still terrible. But that's not the point.

I actually remember more about Evol than the first series as it has better characters with a more interesting plot. But it still wasn't engaging enough to make me feel compelled enough to watch the second half but what I do remember like the characters Jin and MIX... there's a lot about MIX I really enjoy... was enough for me to justify a buy.

Stream? An option but it is a SAVE title and just as expense can change a rating from buy to stream, sometimes inexpense does the opposite. Not always but Evol's a double length DVD BD set; It helps.

In short, Evol's a SAVE set and it's both pretty good and pretty cheap. Kind of a short point, honestly.

What else? I also bought When Supernatural Battles Becomes Commonplace because 1) I got it cheap and 2) I like the dub cast. I've never seen the series before but I'm tired of watching decent shows not get dubbed...for example, the worst thing about "I couldn't become a hero so I reluctantly got a job" is the title; Don't get me started on Love SNAFU... that I'd rather just blind buy the dubbed stuff than find out that it's going to be a sub only BD where you can't turn off the subtitles.

Don't know how that got bolded, sorry....

I've seen both the original and EVOL, and also Logos, and at the very least EVOL is not the worst season of Aquarion.

Did the manga of Dante ever end? I remember the anime version had one of the rushest endings when spoiler[the mc and and his sister accidentally destroy the world because of angel and demon incest.....] So I don't recommend the anime Wink

I've been debating on trying out EVOL for awhile now, so hearing another review gets my mind thinking. Eh, maybe I'll look into it.

Wait wait wait, did somebody just say Casshern Sins was one of their favorite series?! I can't believe it; I thought I was alone in this universe! Very Happy Rejoice!

Aquarion consistently remains on my "To Watch" list since I'm curious about it, but I keep forgetting it even exists.

As long as you don't do Logos, that should be somewhat worthwhile. That one is best left forgotten

If you're talking about that, it's not really a retcon. There are a few hints towards it in the first series.

I'd definitely say one needs to have seen the original to appreciate Evol. It goes out of its way to avoid many of the problems the original had, so if you had issue with Evol, the original isn't much better (such as its philosophizing being even more convoluted, and the metaphors even more obvious).

I rather enjoyed the original, but I absolutely love Evol. No matter what anyone says, best girl won the aqua lion!

As for Logos, while it does lack some of the heart of the previous two entries, it's still a pretty decent show on its own merits.

I'd give Logos a so-so at best, and looking at ratings here and elsewhere, that seems to be roughly the consensus.

I'm also more of a Zessica fan but out of personal preference than chemistry

Zessica was great... For the first 8 episodes. Once she falls for Amata she spends the bulk of her subsequent screen time angsting about how Amata likes Mikono and her previous fun personality is nowhere to be seen.

Unfortunately it ends before the "Furuichi Tissue Arc".

That's eight episodes more than Mikono imho.

That was the best part of the show. It's a massive troll that comes out of nowhere yet makes sense (poor Toma) in retrospect and at the same time is so nonsensical that you can't not laugh about it.
Honorable mentions to the doughnut episode and Schrade's song.
Also the first ED is great.
