Honestly I'm amazed they both came out of it alive. Those tweets were just savage.

What's up with these tabloid stories, ANN?

It's been happening more often lately – with Yamakan, Miyazaki and Anno being favorite targets –, and I see zero value in these articles other than being clickbaity (often with headlines that don't really reflect the content of the article). Not really happy about this. I don't think it's good for the overall quality of ANN coverage and especially for the discussion quality in the forums. People won't probably care much for this one (because there isn't much to care about – speculation about a spat that might have happened, but we don't know what happened and one of the involved parties even denied it happaned at all – big deal), but I can already see all the insults and unreflected comments in the next Miyazaki / Anno / Yamakan news.

It's been happening more often lately – with Yamaken, Miyazaki and Anno being favorite targets –, and I see zero value in these articles other than being clickbaity (often with headlines that don't really reflect the content of the article). dunno, it kindaq helps knowing aoubt the spats when two people refuse to work together for unknown reason, otherwise we get stuff like the no yotsuba anime rumours; but since in this case both are directors, is there even a chacne for them to work together at all ?

Sometimes I feel like it's these obnoxious arrogant anime directors that are ruining the anime industry rather than moe.

Did you actually see the tweets, or are you just trolling?

Which anime directors seemed obnoxious and arrogant here, because I ain't reading any insults. There's nothing but speculation by fans. And another one carrying the meme called "moe is ruining anime", huh? That's cute.

Whatever the details of this situation are, it still seems like the majority of the anime industry is being run by grumpy old men that just love to complain and nag about how everything in the anime industry and fandom sucks. We even have an anime show airing right now that's basically just one big long 12 episode rant about the anime industry. You just get the feeling the people at the top are old and tired and fed up and we need some new blood in the industry already that isn't led by cynical world views.

The guy responsible for Fractale loses by default. I still haven't recovered from that trash fire.

Are you sure you aren't confusing normal everyday complainers on MAL or any other user on a random anime site that kept trash talking modern anime as your normal everyday anime directors? Because I'm sure not all of them liked to do what you've think they'd always do.

It's industry news. You control what you click on. It is not very fair of you to want to control what others can see.

By that logic everything about the public or private life of industry professionals is industry news. If we knew what this "spat" was even about, and the article would summarize the contents because they somehow reflect the views of both involved parties on the state of the anime industry or anything, an article would make sense. But we don't know any of that, and really, anyone who knows Yamakan knows it's truly not unusual for him to block people.

And reading CCTakato's posts, what I wrote about "insults" and "unreflected comments" seems to be right on point. And really, it's not hard to get the impression that the industry is run by grumpy old men (it is not, by the way) when we get a dedicated article with a misleading headline that highlights something controversial Miyazaki once said in a documentary without providing adequate context, or about a possible confrontation of two anime directors (one of them very controversial himself) on Twitter we don't know anything about.

Some of the previous stories about Yamakan had similar problems; they didn't provide enough context in some cases (interview/conversation with otaking) or mistranslated parts of his private blog (your name. criticism – and it was not corrected even after being pointed out, iirc), and that's why it's really not that different from your average tabloid stories.

I'm honestly not concerned as to whether or not it's "tabloid". I am actually extremely fascinated with Yutaka Yamamoto as an individual. Mostly because at first glance he seems like an angry bitter man who has a huge ego, yet also seems to be rather concerned with the people of Japan as a whole.

So much so, that I'm actually rather curious as to what the tweets were, and what went down between the two. I'm a huge fan of Seiji Mizushima's work as well, especially his stuff with Sho Aikawa. So this is all interesting to me.

If you don't like the article you don't have to read it, but for someone like me who is extremely fascinated with both the work of these individuals as well as who they are as people, I find articles like this to be extremely insightful. That's not to say I want to know every little thing there is to know about them or anything, but rather that this story in particular interests me greatly.
