So you punish the author by inconveniencing your readers.

Tell me how did that holding your breath until you pass out Embarassed work for you back in the day?

This has got to be the most retarded punishment in the history of punishments..
This is going to affect the magazine's readers more than the author wont it? it makes them look retarded as hell maybe things work diffrently in japan :<

I don't know, that would be okay for me, I wouldn't mind to turn a book upside down once to read this page. Definitely better than pictures being flipped left to right like in the old localized manga.

Pretty weak punishment. Maybe it was to get the fans to voice their opinion on the authors tardiness.

If they think the author was late because he was being too much of a perfectionist, it would be quite well chosen ~ "you want it to look as nice as possible, get the damn art in on time!."

And likely no grounds for a messy contractual dispute either ~ it seems highly unlikely that the contract specifies that the pages be printed right side up.

This is actually really funny. Airing your dirty laundry out in public is a big no-no, so I have to wonder if the editing department wasn't collectively high when it decided to pull this stunt.

By implication it seems highly unlikely that the contract also specifies monetary losses if a deadline is missed as well then. Laughing

Funny that the article wrote that the mangaka's name is Ayumi Fujimura and has no relation with the seiyuu, but provided the direct link to her profile page. Automated, I guess?

Anyway, in other site I found her name romanized as "Fumi Fujimura" not "Ayumi Fujimura" Kanji is 藤村歩実 so maybe it's really Ayumi afterall.

EDIT : Oh, I guess it's really romanized as Fumi Fujimura. I saw the twitter of the manga and the author wrote ふじむらふみ as her pen name.

I think the whole flip-down thing is just to make a new sensation whatsoever. Maybe by causing inconvenience to the readers, Fujimura's rating will drop down somehow (or perhaps, the opposite)

The contract certainly may say the publisher can refuse the work if its late, but that's a punishment that cuts both ways. If the publisher runs the work, it could well be they have to pay the page rate anyway.

Plus, the editor would know the mangaka and have a better idea than any of us do of what would be an effective incentive to give notice if the mangaka was at risk of being late in the future.

Well, if it's a 4-koma manga, then it's probably a gag series, right? In that context, I think a childish punishment like this makes sense.

Also, that's hilarious. Laughing
