Unlimited Fafnir Anime Reveals More of Cast, Theme Songs

Hisako Kanemoto, Kana Hanazawa, more join cast; series voice actresses Rina Hidaka, Manami Numakura perform ending

Staff for the upcoming anime of Tsukasa's Jūō Mujin no Fafnir (Unlimited Fafnir) light novel series announced additional cast members and information regarding the opening and ending theme songs during a Niconico Live stream on Wednesday.

The newly announced cast members are:

Hisako Kanemoto (Knights of Sidonia, Durarara!!×2) as Lisa Highwalker
Kana Hanazawa (Deadman Wonderland, Psycho-Pass) as Firill Crest
Sora Tokui (Robotics;Notes, Love Live! School idol project) as Ariella Lu
Fumiko Uchimura (Riddle Story of Devil) as Ren Miyazawa
Ayane Sakura (The Eccentric Family, Love Lab) as Tear Lightning
Marina Inoue (Attack on Titan, Gurren Lagann) as Kili Surt Muspelheim
Saori Hayami (Bakuman., Oreimo) as Honoka Tachikawa
Rikako Yamaguchi (Devil Survivor 2 The Animation, Hiiro no Kakera - The Tamayori Princess Saga) as Haruka Shinomiya
Nobuyuki Hiyama (Genshiken, Kill la Kill) as Loki

TRUSTRICK will perform the opening theme "Flying Fafnir." Iris Freyja and Mitsuki Mononobe's voice actresses Rina Hidaka and Manami Numakura will perform the ending theme "Ray of Bullet" as their characters.

Previously announced cast members include:

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (The Idolm@ster, Sword Art Online) as Yū Mononobe

Rina Hidaka (Heaven's Memo Pad, Tamako Love Story) as Iris Freyja

Manami Numakura (The Idolm@ster, Black Rock Shooter) as Mitsuki Mononobe


Keizou Kusakawa (Asura Cryin', Dog Days, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st, Ro-Kyu-Bu!) is serving as chief director with Jun Takahashi (episode director on Cromartie High School, Otogi Zoshi, The Prince of Tennis) directing at Diomedea. Shōko Yasuda is designing the characters, and Satoki Iida is directing the sound. Nippon Columbia is producing the music. The TBS and BS-TBS channel will run the anime beginning in January.

In the "unlimited school battle action" story, the world was transformed by the sudden appearance of monsters known collectively as dragons. Before long, girls known as "D" were born with the dragons' powers. A boy named Yuu Mononobe is the world's only male "D," although his existence is kept secret. He is forced to enroll into Midgar, a school for "D" girls, where he see a female student Iris naked. Moreover, he is reunited with his long-separated little sister Mitsuki.

Tsukasa published the first novel volume with illustrations by Riko Korie (Tsuki Tsuki!) last year. Saburouta (Citrus, Chōkyō Kareshi) launched a manga adaptation in Kodansha's good! Afternoon magazine in March.
