The official Twitter account for Shueisha's Jump J Books novel label announced on Friday that Sankaku Head's Himouto! Umaru-chan manga is inspiring a second novel titled Himouto! Umaru-chan N2. The novel will ship on June 19, the same day as the compiled volume for the Himōto! Umaru-chan G sequel manga.
Shueisha published the first novel, Himouto! Umaru-chan N (pictured right), in August 2015. The novel compiled stories focusing on Umaru, Kirie, and Sylphynford.
Sankaku Head launched the original Himouto! Umaru-chan manga in Weekly Young Jump in 2013 (after running an earlier two-chapter Himouto! Umaru-chan! version in Miracle Jump in 2012), and ended it last November. The sequel, Himōto! Umaru-chan G, launched the same month and ended on Thursday. Sankaku Head is preparing a new series, but has not yet announced if it is related to Himouto! Umaru-chan.
Seven Seas has licensed the manga and will release the first volume in May 2018.
The manga inspired a 12-episode television anime series in July 2015. Himouto! Umaru-chan R, the second anime season based on the manga, premiered in Japan last October.
The manga also inspired the Akita Imokko! Ebina-chan, Himōto! Umaru-chan S, and Himōto! Umaru-chan SS spinoff manga, as well as the Himōto! Umaru-chan F: Himōto Enikki fanbook. Himōto! Umaru-chan SS ended in February 2017, and Akita Imokko! Ebina-chan ended in September 2017.
