Himōto! Umaru-chan Manga Ends in 3 Chapters

Sankaku Head's manga inspired 2 TV anime series

This year's 47th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine is revealing on Thursday that Sankaku Head's Himouto! Umaruchan manga will end in three more chapters, in the magazine's 50th issue. The issue also asks fans to wait for a follow-up report in the 50th issue.

Sankaku Head launched the manga in Weekly Young Jump in 2013 (after running an earlier two-chapter Himōto! Umaru-chan! version in Miracle Jump in 2012). Shueisha published the manga's 11th compiled volume (pictured at right) on September 19. The manga had 3 million copies in print as of September.

Seven Seas has licensed the manga, and it describes the story:

In public, Umaru Doma appears to be the perfect high school student: hard-working, refined, and totally responsible. But the minute she gets home to her older brother Taihei–and dons her famous hamster hoodie–she devolves into the ultimate bratty little sister! She's happy to roll around all day in an otaku cloud of games and junk food while her exhausted older brother takes care of everything in the house. In this hilarious comedy about family, friendship, and the nonsense we put up with (from the people we love), Umaru and Taihei will find a way to make it work!

Seven Seas will release the manga's first volume in May 2018.

The manga inspired a 12-episode television anime series in July 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for home video.

Himōto! Umaru-chan R, the second anime season based on the manga, premiered in Japan on October 8. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the sequel, and is streaming it on Amazon's Anime Strike service in the United States.

The manga also inspired the Akita Imokko! Ebina-chan, Himōto! Umaru-chan S, and Himōto! Umaru-chan SS spinoff manga. Himōto! Umaru-chan SS ended in February, and Akita Imokko! Ebina-chan ended in September.
